In this paper we present a contribution of Multicriteria Decision Analysis to the evaluation of Animal Welfare in European farms. We present the main features of the overall evaluation process designed to assess animal welfare on a farm from measures taken on the animals or their environment. We review the main steps of the construction of subcriteria and criteria. Then we discuss the aggregation problem and the design of a multicriteria sorting procedure to assess overall welfare from those criteria. This study is illustrated on cattle but is designed to be transposed to other animal species (e.g. pigs, poultry) so as to provide a general evaluation system for animal welfare on farms.

This paper deals with preference representation and decision-making problems in the context of multiattribute utility theory. We focus on the generalized additive decomposable utility model (GAI) which allows interactions between attributes while preserving some decomposability. We present procedures to deal with the problem of optimization (choice) and ranking of multiattribute items. We also address multiperson decision problems and compromise search using weighted Tchebycheff distances. These procedures are all based on GAI networks, a graphical , model used to represent GAI utilities. Results of numerical experiments highlight the practical efficiency of our procedures.

This paper presents a multicriteria decision support methodology for selecting sites to be inspected within the framework of arms control in Europe (conventional forces). We present our formulation of the problem focusing on the construction criteria. Then, we develop a multicriteria aggregation procedure designed to rank the sites by decreasing order or priority. In order to derive robust prescriptions, we propose a general and original approach integrating imprecision and ill-determination preference information.
