Content available remote Ultrasound Image Analysis in Hashimoto's Disease
EN
The paper presents the diagnostics of parenchyma echogenicity and organ dimensions in thyroid examinations in case of the Hashimoto's disease using image processing methods. In case of discovering focal changes within the thyroid, a method for their pathology evaluation is suggested. The detector proposed operates fully automatically; using the information on the image texture it detects an artery in the image, which plays the role of a reference point, and based on it - detects the area of interest.

Content available remote Analysis of the inclination of elongated biological objects : microtubules
EN
In the paper we propose a new method for determining the inclination angle of microtubules. The method allows us to obtaining an angular inclination histogram, taking into account the area of microtubules rather than their number only. We present two kinds of microtubule approximation: global and local one. In the global approach microtubules are approximated with one or more straight lines, whereas the local approach defines a direction field for each pixel.

Content available remote 3D modeling of the growth and division of shoot apex meristem
EN
The paper presents an approach to three-dimensional visualization of idealized growth and division of the shoot apex meristem of a plant root based on simplification of cells to the form of non-complex polyhedrons rendered by a graphic library. The vertices of polyhedrons are processed by a growth algorithm, which determines their position in space and successively increases their size until the division criterion is fulfilled and division is triggered. The proposed method allows simulation of the aforementioned processes and observation of their characteristics through animation of a single cell or large sets of cells.

In the paper a new algorithm for the automatic segmentation of characteristic areas of the human head in a thermovision image is presented. The analysed regions include: forehead, area of sinuses and back of the neck. The covered set of approaches, which are mainly algorithms employing morphological operations, neural networks and methods based on human head proportions, can provide satisfying completely results for a doctor's practice in a fully automatic way.
