W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań, których celem jest przeprojektowanie mieszkań wybudowanych w okresie PRL. Za ich podstawę przyjęto mieszkania zrealizowane w budynkach zmontowanych w technologii OW-T/67, które zaprojektowano na podstawie NTP z 1959 r. Do badań pilotażowych przyjęto mieszkanie M-4. Celem zaproponowanych działań jest poprawa jakości istniejącego środowiska mieszkaniowego. Zdaniem autora jest to możliwe jedynie w procesie przeprojektowania mieszkań. Działania te powinny być skorelowane z zamieszkiwaniem w nich przez mniejszą niż pierwotnie zakładano liczbę osób. Autor w poprawie standardu (powierzchniowego i funkcjonalnego) mieszkań widzi drogę do zmiany oceny środowiska mieszkaniowego w osiedlach i budynkach zrealizowanych w technologiach uprzemysłowionych, które nadal zamieszkuje ok. 1/3 populacji Polaków.

The paper presents the results of the research. The goal is to re-design the apartments built during the PRL. The apartments made in the buildings assembled in the OW-T/67 technology which were designed on the basis of NTP from year 1959 were used for the basis of this research. An apartment called M-4 was used for the pilot studies. The proposed measures are a real contribution to improving the quality of the existing housing environment. According to the author, it is only possible in the process of renewal – redevelopment of apartments. These activities should be correlated with the residence of them by the lower than originally assumed number of people. The author sees the way to change the rating housing environment (housing estates and buildings still inhabited by about 1/3 of Poles) in the surface and functional standard of housing.

OW-T to jeden z systemów prefabrykowanego budownictwa uprzemysłowionego, rozpowszechniony w Polsce w latach 70. i 80. XX wieku. W artykule przedstawiono jego założenia formalne oraz historię rozwoju. Zaprezentowano oceny: systemu, mieszkań i tworzonego przy ich wykorzystaniu środowiska zamieszkania wypowiadane na przestrzeni 40 lat. Analiza aktualnego stanu badanych zasobów mieszkaniowych wskazuje na potrzebę ich rewitalizacji. Sformułowano w tym celu wnioski postulatywne. Sukces odnowy tego środowiska upatrywany jest w wykreowaniu „mody na mieszkanie w bloku OW-T”.

OW-T it is one of systems of prefabricated, industrialised building construction, spread in Poland in 70. and 80. of the 20th century. In the article his formal establishments and history of the development were described. Evaluations were presented: of the system, flats and settling created at their rusing of the environment of living from the period of 40 years. Analysis of the current condition of the examined housing stock shows the reed of their revitalization. To this purpose conclusions were expressed. The success of the restoration of this environment is being sought in creating „fashions for living in the block OW-T”.

Na tle powtarzalnej, systemowej architektury wielkopłytowych osiedli z lat siedemdziesiątych doby polskiego modernizmu istniał inny modernizm - modernizm niezwykłych, zaskakujących realizacji wyprzedzających teraźniejszość, zarówno w indywidualnej kreacji architektonicznej, jak również technice i technologii powstania. Impulsem tworzenia architektonicznych unikatów modernizmu stawały się często decyzje polityczne. Tak również stało się w Białymstoku, gdzie na potrzeby Centralnych Dożynek roku 1973 powołano do życia szereg unikatowych obiektów kreujących nowy wizerunek miasta. Inspiracją lekkich, stalowo-szklanych konstrukcji stały się marzenia o ujarzmieniu kosmosu. Oceniając dziś zapomniane, białostockie pawilony stwierdzić należy, iż ta spójna stylistycznie grupa stanowi istotny wkład w dorobek polskiego modernizmu początku lat siedemdziesiątych XX wieku.

On a background of systemic architecture of reinforced concrete housing estates from the 1970s, the time of polish modernism existed the other modernism - modernism of unusual, suprising realizations, overtaking the present time by individual architectural creation and technique and technology as well. The impulse to create architectural uniques of modernism often became political decisions. Similar fact took place also in Białystok where, for the reason of Central Cremony of Dożynki 1973, the number of unique objects creating the new face of the city were built. The inspiration of those light - weight steel and glass contractions became the dreams of harnessing the cosmic space. The Białystok pavilions -coherent stylistic group, are the important contribution to output of polish modernism of 1970s of 20 Century.

Niniejszy tekst prezentuje pięć kolejnych etapów rozwoju białostockiego rynku (placu miejskiego). W tekście wskazano determinanty i efekty przekształceń przestrzennych placu. Zaprezentowano ewolucję układu urbanistycznego oraz przemiany zabudowy rynku. Celem prowadzonych badań była analiza roli, jaką białostocki rynek odgrywał w życiu miasta w poszczególnych przedziałach dziejowych.

The text presents five next periods of development of a city market (city square) in Bialystok. The text indicates determinants and effects of spatial transformations of the square. It also presents evolution of urban plan, transformations of buildings around the market. The purpose of research were analyses the role the city market played in the life of the city in different historical partitions.

"Miasto dla turystów" nie istnieje naprawdę. "Prawdziwe miasto" ożywa w antrakcie turystycznego spektaklu. "Prawdziwe miasto" chce być "miastem dla turystów"! Od niebytu dzieli je krótka chwila - flesz pozowanej fotografii.

"Serce" Białegostoku od wieków biło na placu ratuszowym. Przemiany funkcjonalno-przestrzenne czasu PRL zaburzyły naturalny rytm sceny miejskiego spektaklu. Podjęte w ostatnich latach głośne próby przywrócenia utraconej rangi "salonu miasta", jak dotąd, nie przyniosły rezultatów.

For centuries, "the heart" of Białystok has beaten at its Town Hall Square. However, the functional-spatial transformations of the People's Republic of Poland disturbed the natural rhythm of this stage of the urban spectacle. The dramatic attempts of the past few years to revive the lost status of the "city's salon" have so far yielded no results.

Miasto globalne nie tworzy struktury zwartej, wręcz przeciwnie - „wyspy" dryfujące w strukturze istniejącej, w przestrzeni przedprzemysłowej i przemysłowej, zapełniają one jej luki, uzupełniają niedobory funkcjonalne, łączą się pomiędzy sobą siecią „inteligentnych" instalacji i dróg kołowych. W końcu dopuszczają do swego wnętrza intruzów ze świata minionego. Wszak to dzięki nim miasto globalne funkcjonuje ekonomicznie czerpiąc swe zyski lub korzystając z jego potencjału, stąd coraz częstsze poglądy, iż samo w sobie stanowi "drapieżnika" żerującego na istniejącym organizmie. Jego twory: osiedla strzeżone, kompleksy handlowe i kulturalne, obiekty transportu i biurowce w swych wewnętrznych strukturach usiłują nawiązywać do miasta znanego z przeszłości, usiłują je „odnaleźć" w swej nowoczesnej strukturze.

The global city does not create any dense structure, to the contrary- isles dryfting in the existing structure, in pre-industrial and industrial space. They fill its gaps, complete funcional deficiency and are interconnected by a network of „inteligent" installations and roads. Finally they let inside intruders from a bygone world. After all thanks to them a global city functions economically, deriving profits or using its potential, hence a growing number of people say that in fact the city becomes a kind of „predator" on the existing organizm. Its structures: gated communities, commercial and cultural centers, transport facilities and office buildings in their inner structures try to refer to the city known from the past, to „find" it in their modern structure.

Osiem pielgrzymek papieża Jana Pawła II do Ojczyzny tworzy historię ponad siedemdziesięciu polowych kościołów i ich ołtarzy, które stanowiły tło celebry, swoistą scenografię i oprawę tych historycznych spotkań. Obiekty te były nie tylko znakiem czasu, chwilowym symbolem kilkugodzinnego sacrum. Z założenia przeznaczone do krótkotrwałego "użytkowania" stały się narodowymi pomnikami burzliwych czasów, relikwiami chwil, które warto zachować w pamięci. Istota tej pomnikowości tkwi w uniwersalnym przesłaniu owej architektury protestującej, która sięgała po symbole zrozumiałe i przemawiające do mas. Choć kruche w swej materii, uwiecznione na setkach fotografii i w ludzkiej świadomości, zyskały drugie życie, życie ponad czasem. Większość ołtarzy już nie istnieje. Pozostały z nich fragmenty rozsiane po wielu miejscach w Polsce. Owe architektoniczne pamiątki nabierają szczególnego znaczenia, stając się w wielu wypadkach miejscem celowego pielgrzymowania.

Eight pilgrimages of the Pope, John Paul II, to his Homeland make the history of over seventy field churches and their altars which formed the background for celebration, a unique stage design and the frame for those historic meetings. Not only were these structures marks of time but also a transient symbol of a few-hour-long sa-crum. Designed, in its creation, for a short-lived "use" they have become national monuments of stormy times, relics of moments worth remembering. The essence of this monumentality lies in the universal message of that architecture of protest which drew on symbols understood by and speaking to the masses. Although fragile in the material, they have, immortalized by hundreds of photographs and in human mind, gained a second life, life beyond time. Most of the altars are no longer there. There have remained fragments scattered in numerous places all over Poland. These remains are gaining a special meaning and become, in many cases, sites of intentional pilgrimages.

The creator of contemporary knowledge is mass media. Media create a "media spectacle", which does not always reflect the reality. Does it mean that non-media architectural objects do not exist?
