The article portrays Prof. Dr. Kalinowski, an outstanding expert on architecture, including its industrial variant, within the context of personal contacts which led to the revalorisation of the nineteenth-century A. G. Fiedler manufacture in Opatówek (1825-1826), adapted into the Museum of the History of Industry in 1981. The suggestions an intervention of Prof. Kalinowski contributed to an exhibition depicting the Kalisz Industrial Region, as well as a collection of Polish pianos from the nineteenth and twentieth century. The professional expertise, authority and kindness displayed by Prof. W. Kalinowski proved to be decisive for the existence and development of the Museum.
