Autorzy projektu podjęli próbę zmiany charakteru alei 29 Listopada, tak by z bariery stała się zwornikiem integrującym przestrzeń wokół niej. Wymaga to przeprojektowania nie tylko samej alei, ale również terenów do niej przyległych, tak by aleja 29 Listopada stała się centralnym miejscem aktywności mieszkańców. Postanowiono również podkreślić rangę wynikającą z ważnego miejsca, jakie historycznie i funkcjonalnie aleja zajmuje w przestrzeni Krakowa. Potencjał miejsca wymaga nadania alei funkcji reprezentacyjnej.

Authors of the project attempted to change the character of 29 Listopada Avenue so that it could be transformed from a barrier into a keystone integrating the space around it. It requires redesigning of not just the avenue itself, but also the grounds adjacent to it, so that 29 Listopada Avenue could become a focal point of the inhabitants’ activities. It was also decided to emphasise the rank resulting from the position that the avenue occupies in the space of Cracow, both historically and functionally. The potential of the place requires that the avenue should be given a representative function.

Praca dotyczy domów “Innego”, architektury odnoszącej się do problemów “zamieszkiwania” jakie nakreśla filozofia; fenomenologia i egzystencjalizm. Opisuje przykłady dzieł architektury i sztuki powstałych w przestrzeni miast, których celem jest stawianie pytań o dom jako taki, właściwości, cechy, istotę zamieszkiwania – bycia na Ziemi. Istota domu odsłania się w sytuacjach granicznych – gdy dom się traci, gdy jest się z niego wykluczonym. Przytoczone przykłady to domy w sensie metaforycznym; dom bezdomnego, dom pamięci, dom samobójcy, dom muzyki. Dzieła te są z pogranicza światów filozofii, sztuki i architektury. Może mają podwójną tożsamość – dzieła architektury i sztuki, a może stanowią dowód tego że miejsce architektury jest w świecie sztuki.

The thesis concerns the houses of “the Other”, the architecture that refers to the problem of dwelling outlined by the philosophy; Phenomenology and Existentialism. It presents examples of works of architecture and art created in the urban space, whose aim is to raise a question about the house itself, its properties and qualities, the idea of dwelling – living on the Earth. The essence of a “home” can be found in boundary situations – when one loses their house or they are excluded from it. The works presented are examples of the house in the metaphorical sense: the homeless house, the house of memory, the house of a suicide, the house of music. These works are from the borderland of philosophy, art. and architecture. Perhaps they have a double identity – of the work of architecture and art or they just simply show that the place of architecture is in the world of art.

Architecture is a complex discipline, and works of architecture are diverse and constantly changing. Therefore, it is difficult to determine the range and essence of architecture and create a definition. This paper analyses the problem with definitions of architecture on the basis of semantics, aesthetics, and metaphysics. It considers the question of identity and essence, and the cause, purpose and consequence of defining.

Architektura jest złożoną i szeroką dyscypliną, a dzieła architektury są różnorodne i podlegają ciągłym przemianom. Dlatego trudno ustalić zarówno jej zakres jak i istotę, trudno o jej definicję. Artykuł analizuje problem definicji architektury na tle semantyki, estetyki i metafizyki. Rozważana jest kwestia tożsamości i istoty pojęcia, przyczyna i cel powstawania definicji oraz sens definiowania i jego wpływ na architekturę.
