The results of wood anatomical structure change study due to the high temperatures effect are presented. As samples, was used heat-treated hornbeam wood at temperatures of 160, 190 and 220 °C for 1, 10 and 20 hours. The diameter of pores in the cell walls of the vessels and fibrous elements increases in the hornbeam wood treated at a temperature of 160 °C for 20 hours also the thickness of the cell walls were decreased slightly. When the treatment temperature is increased to 190 °C, significant and irreversible changes occur in the tissues and at 220 °C were discovered complete or partial charring of the organics of the cells of the core rays.
