W artykule autor próbuje pokazać zmiany, jakie zaszły w pojmowaniu witruwiańskiej triady: venustas, firmitas, utilitas w czasach nowoczesnych. Próbuje wskazać proces rozszczepiania i dekonstruowania pojęć tak istotnych dla architektury tradycyjnej. W konkluzji wyraża przekonanie, że ten proces był niezbędny w ewolucji współczesnego pojęcia architektury, ale dziś nadchodzi potrzeba ponownej reintegracji witruwiańskiej triady na nowych warunkach.

In this article the author tries to indicates shifts, which occurred in comprehension of the Vitruvian triad: venustas, firmitas, utilitas, in modern times. He tries to indicate the process of break up and deconstruction of these notions, so important for traditional architecture. In conclusion the author express a conviction, that this process was essential in evolution of contemporary notion of architecture, but today we face the need of renewed reintegration of the Vitruvian triad.

W artykule autor stara się poddać analizie sytuację dzieła architektonicznego we współczesnym mieście, które ma charakter palimpsestu. Idea palimpsestu ujawnia silne poczucie tymczasowości współczesnej cywilizacji. W związku z tym jednym z najistotniejszych problemów współczesnych architektów jest problem trwałości i zmienności budynku zarówno w sensie technologicznym, formalnym, jak i symbolicznym.

In this article the author tries to analyze the situation of contemporary cities as a palimpsest. The consequences of this is, among other things, aspiration to fast changes of the city tissue. Building should be longer durable but open for changes.

In this article I describe relationship between contemporary architecture and digital tools in designing. I think we can say, that there is something like digital beauty, which is connected with a new method of designing architecture. The technique of "scripting" - the manipulation of digital code - enables production of entirely new and innovative architectural environments. A new generation of structures is being created, that recognizes the potential of the computer not just as a sophisticated drafting and rendering tool, but as a potentially powerful tool in the generation of designs themselves. It can bring a refreshing projects, but there is also a danger of dehumanization of architecture.

Artykuł przedstawia główne źródła architektury High-Tech w Wielkiej Brytanii. Podkreśla znaczenie XlX-wiecznego nurtu in- żynierskiego, a zwłaszcza Crystal Palace Josepha Paxtona. Wskazuje też na istotną rolę architekta lat międzywojennych Owena Williamsa. Bezpośrednio ruch High-Tech w Anglii zapowiada grupa Archigram z ich technologicznymi utopiami i związany z nią luźniej Cedric Price. Twórczość tego ostatniego jest omówiona szczegółowiej jako próba bezpośredniego związania nowoczesnej technologii z życiem codziennym.

This article descibes main sources of High-Tech architecture in Great Britain. It emphasizes the meaning of ingineering trend in the XIX century, especially of Joseph Paxton's Crystal Palace. It also indicates great importance of Owen Williams, architect of interwar period. High-Tech movement in Britain was directly announced by The "Archigram" group with its technological utopias and by Cedric Price. The output of this latter is described much more detailed. It indicates direct connections between modem technology and everyday life.
