Assessment of Aggressiveness of Ganoderma Resinaceum (Boud.). Pathogenesis and Influence on Wood Decomposition of Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur L.)

Ganoderma resinaceum, which belongs to the Ganodermataceae family, is a fungus that is rare in Poland, and occurs mainly in green areas. In the light of the lack of literature reports concerning the degree of aggressiveness of the fungus in relation to the host and the decomposition rate of wood, we carried out an in-depth study of two trees on a new, previously unlisted site in Poland. We performed multilevel instrumental studies with the use of an acoustic tomograph and a resistograph in order to establish the degree of decomposition of the wood tissue of pedunculate oaks, combined with a visual assessment conducted using the VTA method.

Morwa biała Morus alba L. jest drzewem z rodziny morwowatych Moraceae, które pochodzi z Azji Wschodniej i pojawiło się w Europie w połowie XII wieku. Największe zainteresowanie uprawą morwy białej przypada na XVIII i XIX wiek i z tego okresu pochodzą najstarsze zachowane aleje morwowe na Pomorzu Przednim i Zachodnim. Największe zasługi w promowaniu tego gatunku na terenie Prus miał cesarz niemiecki Fryderyk II. W ostatnim stuleciu zainteresowanie morwą znacznie spadło i ze względu na jej przeciętne walory ozdobne spotykana jest coraz rzadziej w terenach zieleni. Najdłuższa krajowa aleja morw białych złożona z 31 egzemplarzy liczy prawie 800 metrów długości.

White mulberry Morus alba L. is a tree from the Moraceae family, which originated in East Asia and came to Europe in the mid-12th century. The greatest level of interest in the cultivation of white mulberry was observed in the 18th and 19th century and the oldest preserved mulberry alleys in Fore-Pomerania and Western Pomerania originate from this period. The greatest accomplishments in promoting this species in Prussia should be attributed to German Emperor Frederick II. In the last century, the interest in mulberry has significantly declined and, due to its average ornamental qualities, it is less and less common in green areas. The longest national white mulberry alley, consisting of 31 specimens, stretches over 800 meters.
