The question of condition and use of hydrocarbons' resource base in the Skybova area of the Carpathians is examined. The necessity for substantial activation of geological survey for the purроsе of oil/gas bearings in the Skybova area is underlined. When evaluating the prospects of oi1 and gas it is necessary to take into account the sharply increasing role of gas.

The territory under study includes: Ukrainian segment of the Eastern Carpathians with Carpathian foredeep and Transcarpathian Depression and Volyno-Podillia margin of the East-European Platform. Rather good extent of study of these regions by geological and seismic prospecting methods, drilling, remote methods, study of seismicity and heat flows from subsurfaсе, cropping out of volcanites allowed to distinguish аnd trace the main zones of deep faults. The longitudinal faults are distinguished and traced with north-west and south-east direction: Rivnensky. Lutsk-Kamianets-Podilsky. Teysseyre-Tornquist zone, Fore-Carpathian and Trans-Carpathian. Of transverse faults with south-west and north-east direction are distinguished: Cheremoshsky, Solotvino-Nadvirniansko-Dubnensky, Khust=Stryi-Lokachynsky, Uzhgorod-Khodnovichsky. Processes of origin and development of deep faults zones are related with resulting plate and micro- plate movement from south-east, with activation of transeuropean riftogenesis in Teysseyre-Tornquist zone. Analysis of the discovered oi1 and gas fields location within the territory under study showed that many of them, including the big ones, are located in the zones of deep faults, especially in places of intersection of longitudinal and transverse faults, which is probably related with the improved conditions of hydrocarbons migration. The revealed regularities can be used for prospecting for the new oi1 and gas accumulations.

In the west Ukraine carbonates have wide occurrence in Jurassic of Predkarpatskiy flexure external zone and also in the Devonian and the Silurian in Volyno-Podoliya. Fields and deposits of heavy oil in the north-western part of the external zone in areas Kokhanovka, Vyzhomlya, Vyshnya, Orkhovychi, deposits of gas-condensate in Rudkovskaya, Grushevskaya and Letnyanskaya areas and prolific oil deposit in Lopushnyanskaya area in the south-east of the country are connected with the Jurassic carbonate deposits. Gas fields Velikie Mosty and Lokachi, oil deposits in Pavlovka and Markovichi areas are discovered in Volyno-Podoliya in carbonate sandstones of the middle devonian. Oil and gas in carbonates of the upper devonian are known in the area of Olesko - Zolochev. Numerous showings of oil and gas are fixed in reef structures of the Silurian. Further perspectives of oil-and-gas exploitation are connected with detailed geological and geophysical researches of the Jurassic carbonates of Predkarpatie, the Devonian and the Silurian sediments of Volyno-Podoliya and drilling in the most optimally conditions parametric and exploratory wells.

В западном регионе Украины выделяют Карпатскую нефтегазоносную провинцию и Волыно Подольскую нефтегазоносную область. В первой из них выделено Предкарпатскую, Складчатых Карпат и Закарпатскую нефте-газоносные области. Исследованиями устанавливается возможность формирования Карпатской дугоподобной складчато-покровной структуры в результате движения ряда плит и микроплит. В украинском сегменте Карпатского региона устанавливается зона коллизии и пологой субдукции Евроазийской литосферной плиты под Паннонскую микроплиту в пределах Закарпатского прогиба. В соответствии с условиями геодинамического развития исходя из тектоники литосферных плит Карпатскую НГП отнесено к нефтегазоносным бассейнам коллизионного типа, а Волыно-Подольскую НГО к басейну типа пассивных континентальных окраин. В связи с этим основные перспективы нефтегазоносное™ Карпатской НГП связываются с поднадвиговыми зонами, а Волыно-Подольской НГО с зонами пересечения крупных разломов и контрастной тектоники, которые выделены в том числе и изучением состояния напряженности пород. Приводятся детальные направления работ на нефть и газ.
