W artykule przedstawiono najnowsze tendencje w rozwoju silników spalinowych z uwzględnieniem aspektów ekologicznych. Opisano kierunki zmian ich konstrukcji w celu spełnienia drastycznych norm emisji spalin. Porównano emisyjność napędów wykorzystujących silniki spalinowe i przedstawiono kierunki dalszego ich rozwoju.

The paper presents latest trends in the evolution ofthe combustion engines and considers some of its ecological aspects. The trends have been analyzed for their effectiveness in the realization of the stringent emission levels. The emissions of combustion engines have been compared and developments in this respect have been demonstrated.

W artykule przedstawiono zmiany w przyszłych oczekiwaniach i wymaganiach użytkowników w stosunku do samochodu. Zmiany te zostały zidentyfikowane w trakcie badań przeprowadzonych w przez Japońskie Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów. W wyniku badań wyodrębniono trzy grupy potrzeb: ochrona środowiska i energii, bezpieczeństwo oraz stosowanie technologii usprawniających prowadzenie samochodu. Potrzeby te powinny ukierunkowac długoterminowa strategię producentów w dziedzinie nowych technologii oraz projektowania pojazdu.

The purpose of this article is to attempt to describe the evolution in consumer needs and expectations towards the cars in the prospect of the year 2025. These chamges were revelated in the study carried out by the Society of Automative Engineers of Japan. As a result, there main areas of interests were identified: environment and energy protection, safety and implementation of advanced technologies. According to the author`s opinion, these points should focuse the manufacturer`s long term technology and engineering strategies in order to meet the future consumer expectations.
