Active carbons coming from different preparation processes were studied by means of inverse gas chromatography at infinite dilution (IGC-ID). Thermodynamics quantities, such as the free energy of adsorption or the dispersive component of the surface energy, are dependent on the carbon micropore structure. Hence IGC allows the variation of the surface properties of solids submitted to thermal and chemical tratment to be followed.
