This article describes project which is a part of a much bigger project aimed to build 4 big mobile dams to control the exceptionally high tides that year after year damage the marvellous city of Venice. Three parallel pipes had to be laid along a multi-curve trajectory reaching a depth of 64 m. below the sea level, connecting the two islands of Lido and Pellestrina, part of the Venetian Lagoon, in order to lower the level of different utility pipes presently laid at the bottom of the sea. The 1340 m. long pilot bore could be magnetically controlled only for the first 340 m and for the last 200 m of the trajectory, leaving 800 m under the sea bottom with magnetic interference controlled only by solenoid beacons on each side.
