Trwający od wielu lat rozwój architektur procesorów przeznaczonych dla komputerów personalnych (PC) oraz znaczny wzrost wydajnosci interfejsów lokalnych sieci komputerowych doprowadził do stanu, gdy możliwe jest budowanie tanich i jednocześnie wydajnych systemów wielokomputerowych - klastrów. Praca omawia problematykę konfigurowania i strojenia (tzw. tuningu) klastrów komputerowych, bazujących na komputerach PC, sieci Ethernet i oprogramowaniu Mosix-Linux. Uzyskane rezultaty dowodzą, że testowane systemy dojrzały do szerszego stosowania w dydaktyce i laboratoriach naukowych.

The development of processor architectures designated for personal computers (PC) and also the considerable increase in the efficiency of local computer network interfaces resulted in the possibility of constructing cheap and efficient multicomputer systems - clusters. The paper discusses a problem of configuring and tuning computer clusters based at PCs, Ethernet, and Mosix Linux software. Final results prove that tested systems are matured to broad using in teaching and in research laboratories.

At present, service of different kinds of internet clients involves necessity of defining their behaviour in various situations. To determine optimal solutions it is purposeful to know and to describe objectively their behaviour by means of mathematical models. In this article there are presented existing solutions of the discussed problem and the own model of service of internet clients is proposed.

Obecnie obsługa różnego rodzaju klientów internetowych pociąga za sobą konieczność określenia ich zachowań w różnych sytuacjach. W celu wyznaczenia optymalnych rozwiązań celowe jest poznanie oraz obiektywne opisanie tych zachowań za pomocą modeli matematycznych. W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono istniejące próby rozwiązania tego problemu oraz zaproponowano własny model obsługi klientów internetowych.

Obecnie rozwój usług internetowych osiągnął etap, w którym oczekuje się od nich gwarancji dostępu oraz prawidłowego działania. W niniejszym opracowaniu zostaną przedstawione podstawowe informacje na temat gwarancji jakości usług (QoS) dla serwisu intemetowego opartego na systemie klastrowym. Założono, że serwis intemetowy jest w dużej mierze niezależny od stosowanych usług i platformy sprzętowej.

In the paper is presented information to provide Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee | for cluster-based Internet service. It is assumed that the internet service is largely independent of the service application and the hardware/platform of the cluster.
