The paper presents the state regarding practices in teaching at partner universities of the EDURES project and current approaches supporting research-based education. It also presents the needs of various groups of stakeholders formulated on the basis of survey results. Moreover, the paper proposes tools and strategies which are useful if research results are implemented in teaching programmes at technical universities (research-based lectures, e-learning, web portal methodologies, wizards, etc). It is finally stated that research-results implementation into teaching processes is possible by the use of various tools and approaches proposed by the EDURES partnership and has the potential to be appreciated by students, academics and external stakeholders.

Artykuł przedstawia opis zagadnienia dotyczącego nauczania opartego o wyniki badań oraz aktualnie stosowane praktyki partnerów projektu EDURES. Przedstawiono potrzeby interesariuszy na podstawie wyników ankiet. Przedstawiono także narzędzia i strategie użyteczne podczas wdrażania wyników własnych badań w programach nauczania na uczelniach technicznych (wykłady oparte na wynikach badań, e-learning, metodyka portalu badawczego, narzędzia internetowe). Należy stwierdzić, że wdrażanie wyników badań w procesach nauczania jest możliwe przez zastosowanie różnych narzędzi i w oparciu o różne strategie, które zostały opracowane w ramach projektu EDURES i mogą być potencjalnie docenione przez studentów, akademików i zewnętrznych interesariuszy.
The purpose of this work is to study the effect of oil pocket shape and density on friction in reciprocating sliding. The experiments were conducted in reciprocating motion under starved lubrication conditions. Tribological tests were performed using an Optimol SRV5 tribotester. The frictional pair consisted of two discs of 42CrMo4 steel. One disc was laser textured. The oil pockets had circular and sandglass shapes. Disc samples of various texture shapes were characterized by the same pit-area ratios. The operating parameters were the same for all friction pairs. In most cases, surface texturing led to reductions in friction force value and scatter. For both dimple shapes, the best tribological properties were achieved for oil pocket density of 9%. When discs with circular dimples were tested, the highest resistance to motion was received for the highest pit-area ratio of 9%. On the contrary, the worst tribological performance of discs with sandglass-shaped oil pockets of sandglass shape were obtained for the largest oil pocket density of 22%.

The main objective of this work is to model wear of a disc which was subjected to dry contact with a ball in unidirectional sliding. Tribological tests of sliding pairs were carried out using a tribological tester T-11 in a ball-on disc configuration. Stationary balls made of 100Cr6 steel with a hardness of 62 ± 2 HRC co-acted with rotating discs with 42CrMo4 steel with a hardness of 40 ± 2HRC. Discs were machined by lapping, grinding, milling, and vapour blasting. The values of the Sq parameter of disc surfaces were between 0.1 and 5.86 µm. Wear volumes of the discs were lower for bigger roughness heights. The simulation of disc wear was conducted on the basis of the repetitive contact between sliding surfaces. Strong correlation was achieved between the modeled and measured volumetric wear levels.
Purpose: The main aim of the paper is to identify, evaluate and improve the factors that are responsible for the reliable operation of the guttering system using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodology. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the planned goal, the FMEA method was used. This is one of the suitable techniques of reliability modelling used to investigate the failure behaviour of a products and processes. The article presents the use of design FMEA on the example of a guttering system that is produced in one of the companies in the Podkarpackie province. In order to do this, potential defects and their effects have been identified. Later, the control methods used in the company were specified. The frequency of potential defects was then estimated, as well as their significance and possibility of detection. Findings: The design FMEA method allowed the authors to reveal defects, including critical defects, which may significantly affect the construction of a guttering system. The defects and their root causes were identified, and a proposal for corrective and preventive actions was suggested. Originality/value: An original solution of a guttering system that is currently in production in the Podkarpackie province was tested. This analysis should contribute to improving the quality of products manufactured here.

The article presents the analysis of the impact of surface roughness on the load capacity of lap adhesive joints from aluminum alloy 2024. The surfaces of the samples were prepared to bond using mechanical treatment methods, such as milling and abrasive blasting. The surface roughness of the samples for different pre-treatment variants, measured in the 2D system, was found in the range of: Rp=19,4÷60,6 [μm], Rv=16,5÷88,1 [μm], Rz=35,9÷147,0 [μm], Rc=32,2÷103,3 [μm], Rt=37,1÷174,7 [μm], Ra=8,91÷22,73 [μm], Rq=10,50÷27,33 [μm], Rsk=-0,2260÷0,6487, Rku=1,78÷5,85, RSm=0,1207÷0,7337 [mm], Rdq=23,4÷198,7 [˚]. Strength tests showed an increase in the bearing capacity of joints the surfaces of which were subjected to both milling and abrasive blasting.

Powierzchnie próbek zostały przygotowane do klejenia z zastosowaniem metod obróbki mechanicznej, takich jak frezowanie i piaskowanie. Chropowatość powierzchni próbek dla poszczególnych wariantów obróbki, zmierzona w układzie 2D, mieściła się w przedziale: Rp=19,4÷60,6 [μm], Rv=16,5÷88,1 [μm], Rz=35,9÷147,0 [μm], Rc=32,2÷103,3 [μm], Rt=37,1÷174,7 [μm], Ra=8,91÷22,73 [μm], Rq=10,50÷27,33 [μm], Rsk=-0,2260÷0,6487, Rku=1,78÷5,85, RSm=0,1207÷0,7337 [mm], Rdq=23,4÷198,7 [˚]. Badania wytrzymałościowe wykazały wzrost nośności połączeń, których powierzchnie poddawane były zarówno frezowaniu, jaki i piaskowaniu.
W artykule zaprezentowano wpływ parametrów nagniatania hydrostatycznego na wybrane parametry topografii powierzchni. Badania wykazały, że w wyniku zastosowania nagniatania hydrostatycznego uzyskano znaczącą redukcję parametrów wysokościowych powierzchni po procesie frezowania.

The article presents the influence of hydrostatic ball burnishing parameters on selected surface topography parameters. Studies have shown that as a result of the use of hydrostatic ball burnishing, a significant reduction in surface height parameters after the milling process was obtained.
The article presents the research on the impact of slide burnishing process carried out with use of various ceramics on friction and wear of steel elements. In addition, surfaces after grinding, lapping and polishing processes were tested. The tribological couple was made of steel discs, toughened to a hardness of 40 ± 2 HRC, and balls made of 100Cr6 steel with a hardness of 62 HRC. The tests were carried out at three sliding speeds: 0.16 m/s, 0.32 m / s and 0.48 m/s. The research proved the possibility of improving selected tribological properties of friction pairs thanks to the use of slide burnishing process and also allowed to establish a number of relationships between the parameters characterizing the surface topography and the tribological parameters.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu procesu nagniatania ślizgowego realizowanego z wykorzystaniem różnych ceramik na wielkość zużycia oraz siłę tarcia elementów stalowych. Dodatkowo badaniom poddano powierzchnie po procesach szlifowania, docierania oraz polerowania. Skojarzenie materiałowe stanowiły tarcze stalowe ulepszone cieplnie do twardości 40±2 HRC oraz kulki ze stali100Cr6 o twardości 62 HRC. Badania zrealizowano przy trzech prędkościach poślizgu: 0,16 m/s, 0,32 m/s oraz 0,48 m/s. Badania udowodniły możliwość poprawy wybranych właściwości tribologicznych par trących dzięki zastosowaniu procesu nagniatania ślizgowego a także pozwoliły na ustalenie szeregu zależności pomiędzy parametrami charakteryzującymi strukturę geometryczną powierzchni oraz parametrami tribologicznymi.
