The research aims at the identification of factors influencing mentoring services with a particular emphasis on the country of origin of the mentor and the mentee. The quantitative research was conducted in four Central and Eastern European countries, i.e., Bulgaria, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania and one Southern European country, Italy. The implemented methodology covered Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and reliability analysis, which were performed to identify factors influencing the process of communication in the mentor–mentee relationship. Moreover, to diagnose statistically significant differences between individual countries in terms of factors influencing the effectiveness of communication, the Kruskal–Wallis H Test and the Mann–Whitney U Test, as well as pair-wise comparisons, were used. Factors influencing communication in the mentor–mentee relationship are mentor traits, mentor’s personal background, mentor’s professional background, non-verbal communication channels, communication barriers, written communication channels, online communication, quality of content and the ability of content processing by the mentee. There are differences in the perception of individual factors in the analysed countries. So far, no cross-country comparison has been conducted of factors influencing mentoring services. As a direction for future research, more detailed research can be recommended concerning factors of the mentoring process in such countries as Lithuania, Latvia and Italy by developing separate models (or EFA) for mentors and mentees.

The article analyses the influence of contextual variables on students’ entrepreneurial intentions. The research seeks to extend previous findings concerning the impact of various contextual factors on entrepreneurial intentions. The main focus was on public policy, business environment and education as the contextual traits. The study answers the following questions: What role do contextual variables play in the formation of the entrepreneurial intention of young people? What factors comprise a latent variable — contextual factor? What is the relationship between various contextual factors? The survey was conducted among students of the Faculty of Engineering Management at Bialystok University of Technology (Poland). Data were collected from the sample of 332 respondents. This research used a causal quantitative methodology using structural equations (Structural Equation Modelling, SEM). The impact of education (E) on the business environment (BE) and of the business environment (BE) on public policy (PP) was confirmed. A direct influence of contextual factors — education (E), business environment (BE) and public policy (PP) — on entrepreneurial intentions (EI) has not been positively verified. The main theoretical conclusion is that contextual factors do not directly explain the entrepreneurial intentions of the surveyed student population in Poland. Decision-makers and politicians should consider additional measures to improve public policy in the country, but above all, measures that promote intentions indirectly. They aim to improve the educational environment in the country that is strengthening entrepreneurship education programmes in universities and earlier education stages and activities in the business environment, supporting the creation of new companies.

This paper addresses the problem of transport systems in remote areas, defined by a set of constraints deriving from a sparse population, infrequent transportation location means stops and cost-effectiveness of the system. Remote areas attractive to tourists additionally require transportation services designed with respect to changeable demand and the necessity to provide transportation solutions limiting detrimental influence on the environment. This paper aims to identify and assess the perspectives for developing innovative mobility solutions for residents and tourists in remote areas in line with sustainable development and evaluate factors supporting or hindering the development of the selected perspectives. The results of a Delphi study with 23 experts from seven EU Member States, Rus-sia and Norway, enabled identification of factors shaping the future of mobility in peripheral areas, includ-ing IT-supported multimodal transport systems, demand-responsive transport and transport services tailored to the specific needs of different user groups.

W artykule podjęto problematykę systemów transportowych na obszarach peryferyjnych, zdefiniowanych przez zbiór ograniczeń wynikających z rzadkiego zaludnienia, rozproszonej lokalizacji przystanków środków transportu oraz efektywności kosztowej systemu. Obszary peryferyjne atrakcyjne turystycznie wymagają szczególnego podejścia do planowania systemu transportowego z uwzględnieniem zmienności popytu oraz konieczności zapewnienia rozwiązań transportowych ograniczających szkodliwe oddziaływanie na środowisko. Celem pracy jest identyfikacja i ocena perspektyw rozwoju innowacyjnych rozwiązań mobilności dla mieszkańców i turystów obszarów peryferyjnych w zgodzie z zasadami zrównoważonego rozwoju oraz ocena czynników wspierających lub utrudniających rozwój wybranych perspektyw. Wyniki badania Delphi przeprowadzonego wśród 23 ekspertów z siedmiu państw członkowskich UE, Rosji i Norwegii pozwoliły na identyfikację czynników kształtujących przyszłość mobilności na obszarach peryferyjnych, do których należą m.in. multimodalne systemy transportowe wspierane przez rozwiązania informatyczne, transport reagujący na zapotrzebowanie oraz usługi transportowe dostosowane do specyficznych potrzeb różnych grup użytkowników.
