Thermodynamic model based on the statistical description of collective properties of mesoscopic defects and analysis of energy balance under plastic flow was proposed. The key point of the approach is the presentation of the nonequilibrium thermodynamic potential (free energy) in term of independent variables: elastic strain and a structural strain induced by defects (microshear ensemble). The constitutive equations were formulated for the plastic strain that allowed the description of the stored energy part and the dissipation related to the plastic flow. Numerical simulation of cyclic (sinusoidal) loading shows the possibility of generation of third and other high harmonics in temperature signal at the last stage fatigue.
