Transformation of the former Austrian cadastre map

The aim of the present work is to show and compare the process of transforming the map of the former Austrian cadastre from the analogue format to the numerical version, in connection with its still valid application in geodetic-legal, urban design, and planning processes. These include, inter alia, litigation and court cases regarding the extent of ownership of real estate, work related to real estate management (divisions and demarcations), use of maps of former cadastral systems in the process of land consolidation, or modernization of land and building registers and creation of a digital cadastral map, as well as any research studies pertaining to the analysis of spatial changes in the natural environment. Within the defined scope of research, the following steps were taken: calculation of corner coordinates of the sectional frame, transformation of the obtained coordinates from the KUL system into the “2000” system, followed by calibration and raster vectorization. The calibration process was performed using three different computer software applications, which are used on a daily basis by surveying companies throughout Poland. Serving as the material for research, a cadastral map of the village of Strzelce Wielkie in the Szczurowa municipality was adopted, that had been acquired from the State Archives in Kraków.

Celem pracy jest ukazanie i porównanie procesu transformacji mapy byłego katastru austriackiego z postaci analogowej do wersji numerycznej w związku z jej wciąż aktualnym zastosowaniem w procesach geodezyjno-prawnych, urbanistycznych i planistycznych. Do takich należą między innymi sprawy sporne i sądowe o zasięg prawa własności do nieruchomości, prace związane z gospodarką nieruchomościami (podziały i rozgraniczenia), wykorzystanie map byłych systemów katastralnych w procesie scalenia gruntów czy modernizacji ewidencji gruntów i budynków i tworzenia cyfrowej mapy ewidencyjnej jak również wszelkie opracowania badawcze dotyczące analiz zmian przestrzennych środowiska przyrodniczego. Jako zakres badań przyjęto takie czynności jak: wyliczenie współrzędnych naroży ramki sekcyjnej, transformacja otrzymanych współrzędnych z układu KUL na układ „2000” a następnie kalibracja i wektoryzacja rastra. Proces kalibracji został wykonany za pomocą trzech różnych programów komputerowych, które są na co dzień wykorzystywane w firmach geodezyjnych w całej Polsce. Jako materiał do badań przyjęto mapę katastralną wsi Strzelce Wielkie w gminie Szczurowa pozyskaną z Archiwum Państwowego w Krakowie.

Country revitalization is a long-term multistage process which needs consideration of historic and contemporary determinants. In the process of landscape revitalization in Strzelce Wielkie village (Szczurowa commune) performed within the frames of a programme based on international cooperation, Polish and German experiences in such investments realization as well as owned output in the range of theoretical elaborations were used.1 Revitalization of Młynówka stream flowing previously through the whole place was accepted as the most important project challenge and at the same time future investment purpose emphasizing among others diversity of surrounding landscape in its upper, middle and lower flow. The first research already revealed great variety of forms in the elaborated area and existence of numerous historical elements both vegetal and architectural ones. Usage of geodetic materials contributed to localize and include in documentation particular landscape forms, enabled to perform multi-range in situ researches of country landscape and even recreating of 19th century spatial solutions2 . Such elaboration made with use of maps and geodetic plans allowed to preserve elements that are important from the cultural heritage point of view and also to use them in prepared project conception of the place’s spatial development.
