The paper presents one of the methods of ship’s turning-basins designing. The simulating method is more and more often used to the defining parameters projected turning-basins, testing of existing turning-basins and the improving of the manoeuvring practice on the particular manoeuvring basin.

The paper presents the problem of the influence of current on ship during the manoeuvre of the turning and influence on this manoeuvre. The test of the different qualification of the influence of current on the manoeuvre of the turning of the ship was undertaken. The analysis of the influence of the current was conducted on this manoeuvre.

The paper presents the problem of the wind influence on a ship during the turning manoeuvre and the influence on this manoeuvre. Attention has been paid to the necessity of attaching larger attention to the influence of the wind during the turning manoeuvre. The analysis of the wind influence on this manoeuvre has been conducted.

W artykule został podjęty problem oddziaływania wiatru na statek podczas manewru obracania i wpływ na ten manewr. Zwrócono uwagę na konieczność przywiązywania większegoznaczenia na oddziaływanie wiatru podczas manewru obracania. Przeprowadzono analizę wpływu wiatru na ten manewr.

The turning basin is a special part of port water area described by dimensions in horizontal and vertical directions. Such area should be insuring the proper level of safety due to ship manoeuvres. The paper presents the analysis of ships turn manoeuvres on aspect of turning basin designing. The examples of such basins in polish port are showed.

Stosowanie symulatorów manewrowych stanowi obecnie normę w szkoleniu. Wiemy od dawna, jak je wykorzystywać i jak przygotowywać właściwe ćwiczenia, które byłyby bliskie rzeczywistym sytuacjom na morzu i gwarantowałyby realizację celów szkolenia. W obecnych czasach instruktorzy symulatorów coraz częściej zwracają uwagę na sam proces obiektywnej, wielokryterialnej i automatycznej oceny umiejętności nabytych podczas szkolenia na symulatorach (i/lub egzaminowania). Ciągle nie mamy akceptowalnych kryteriów i metod oceny umiejętności. W pracy przedstawiono rozważania na temat czynników umożliwiających taką ocenę, które oparto na badaniach oceny manewru podejścia statku prawą burtą do nabrzeża w celu zacumowania, wykonywanego na symulatorze manewrowym.

Using shiphandling simulators (full-mission or PC-based) is now a standard for training, We know how to take advantage of them and how to prepare good exercises as close to real situations at sea as possible, and training goals. Now, the shiphandling instructors more and more often discuss the problem of objective, multicriteria, and automatic shiphandling skills assessment (and/or examination) also through the use of shiphandling simulators. There are still no accepted criteria and methods in this respect, though the shiphandling simulator training itself has been intensively practised for a few decades over the world. The present paper contains discussion on such possibilities with regard to shiphandling skills assessment. The basis of discussion is research of ship's starboard side approaching to the pier for berthing assessment.
