This paper presents issues related to the current development needs in rail cargo transport. These needs are mainly driven by market trends, and they are often enforced by competition on the freight market and the need to protect the environment and climate. Today's requirements are related to design changes in freight wagons as well as the stationary and operational research discussed in this paper. The design intentions described below can be treated as a test run prior to the launch of cross-border transport via dedicated corridors.

The article presents a review of the constructional solutions of running gears of freight wagons resulting from the requirements of national and European regulations. A short characteristic of traction vehicles operating in freight traction is presented. The main types of bogies used in Poland and Europe, mainly the family of bogies of Y25 type, are described. A brief historical overview of the running systems of freight wagons is provided. A brief historical outline of the running gears of freight wagons is contained. Requirements of the interchangeability of the running gear as a standard gear are presented. The main issues related to the design of running gears, requirements, criteria, technical specifications are discussed.

W artykule przedstawiono przegląd rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych układów biegowych wagonów towarowych wynikających z wymagań zawartych w krajowych jak i europejskich przepisach. Przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę pojazdów trakcyjnych poruszających się w trakcji towarowej. Opisano główne typy wózków stosowanych w Polsce i Europie przede wszystkim rodzinę wózków typu Y25. Zawarto krótki rys historyczny układów biegowych wagonów towarowych. Przedstawiono wymagania zamienności układu biegowego jako układu standardowego. Omówiono główne zagadnienia związane z projektowaniem układów biegowych, wymaganiami, kryteriami, specyfikacją techniczną.

W artykule przedstawiono proces projektowania układu biegowego pojazdu szynowego z wykorzystaniem narzędzi CAD, CAM jako metod wsparcia procesu. Opisano różne etapy powstawania projektu: od projektu wstępnego po projekt zasadniczy, aż do momentu rozpoczęcia produkcji. Dla każdego etapu przedstawiono sposoby wykorzystania metod CAD i CAM jako wsparcie prac konstruktora.

The article discusses the process of designing the running system of a rail vehicle using CAD and CAM tools as the solutions supporting the process. It describes the particular stages of design taking its final shape: from a preliminary design, through a detailed design, ending with the stage of production. Each stage includes a presentation of how CAD and CAM tools are used to support design engineers in their practice.
