Content available Two stage EMG onset detection method
EN
Detection of the moment when a muscle begins to activate on the basis of EMG signal is important task for a number of biomechanical studies. In order to provide high accuracy of EMG onset detection, we developed novel method, that give results similar to that obtained by an expert. By means of this method, EMG is processed in two stages. The first stage gives rough estimation of EMG onset, whereas the second stage performs local, precise searching. The method was applied to support signal processing in biomechanical study concerning effect of body position on EMG activity and peak muscle torque stabilizing spinal column under static conditions.

Opisano koncepcję integracji aplikacji e-zdrowie w równoległym Internecie IPv6 QoS. Przedstawiono ogólną koncepcję realizacji usług e-zdrowie w sieciach z gwarancją jakości usług opartych na architekturach NGN i DiffServ. Koncepcja integracji aplikacji została zilustrowana na przykładzie aplikacji e-zdrowie dotyczących zdalnego monitorowania: sportowców, diabetyków i astmatyków.

The concept of integration of e-health applications in IPv6 QoS Parallel Internet is presented in the paper. Generally, the integration is based on the specific signalling between application components. The idea of e-health services realization in networks with QoS support based on NGN and DiffServ architectures is showed in the paper. IPv6 QoS Parallel Internet of IIP System is an example of such a network. The proposed concept has been illustrated using three different examples of e-health applications: SmartFit, Diabetic, and Asthma monitoring.

In this work, the problem of skin wound volume estimation is considered. A review of currently developed methods is given. We proposed an estimation method based on structure light patterns and three-dimensional reconstruction technique. The method is non-invasive, safe for a patient, easy for use, and time-effective, it should not require direct contact with the wound and to perform measurement widely available, low-cost devices may be used. The method is validated on the example of wounded chicken. Experimental setting is briefly described, results of estimation are given and compared to an invasive method. Results proved that the method proposed is sufficiently accurate and may be applied in practice.

Stabilization of the spinal column is ensured by the activity of trunk flexor and erector muscles, including rectus abdominis (RA) and erector spinae (ES). The goal of this study was to evaluate the symmetry of action potential and electromechanical delay (EMD) in RA and ES during generation of maximal muscle torque. In the present study, the symmetry of EMG activity in the right and left parts of RA and ES was tested under isometric conditions. The subjects (N = 13) were selected from the university population. Electromyographic signals and muscles torques were recorded with the sampling frequency of 1000 Hz. Lack of significant differences in EMD between left and right sides in both muscles studied and lack of correlation between EMD and maximal muscle torque were observed. Analysis aimed at assessing the symmetry of EMG signals amplitude revealed crossed laterality characterized by increased activity in the right side of RA muscle and left side of ES. The proportion of maximal muscle torque in ES to RA in the women examined amounted to 1.7:1.

Modeling of complex systems requires specific methods of model assessment. Local assessment of the model of complex system reduces to independent evaluations of quality of its parts. However, such a procedure does not necessarily lead to an optimal model of the whole complex system. To do this, global assessment should be used because it takes into account connections between elements. It is also possible to combine these two approaches. In this work, we make use of multiobjective approach to assess quality of model of complex system. Complex neural network is used as a model of dynamic complex system. As an example of complex dynamic system for experimental purposes, chemical process is considered.
