Podstawą doboru odpowiedniej techniki odnowy kanału sanitarnego jest umiejętne określenie stanu technicznego oraz warunków jego położenia w gruncie. Dodatkowo elementem, który dyktuje rodzaj metody, jest nawierzchnia drogowa, podziemna infrastruktura techniczna lub drzewostan kolidujący z zamierzeniem inwestycyjnym. W zależności od lokalizacji przedsięwzięcia lub rodzaju inwestora wystąpią różne tryby prowadzenia postępowania przetargowego.
