Warranty claims data contain valuable information about the quality and reliability of products. The monitoring and early-warning of warranty claims data are of great significance to the manufacturer by identifying and solving the emerging quality or reliability problem as soon as possible. However, though it has been used widely in the automobile industry, there are no studies that have been carried out on the monitoring and early-warning of claims data for products sold with two-dimensional warranty. In order to fill this gap, fitting the two-dimensional warranty claims data with accelerated failure model (AFT), a multi-stage riskadjusted control chart is proposed by this paper, for which a reasonable product sales tracking time and a monitoring time are suggested to reduce the influence of sales delay and fluctuating claim rates. Comparing with traditional Cumulative Sum Control Chart (CUSUM), the applicability and availability of the proposed model are demonstrated in the final.

Roszczenia gwarancyjne stanowią cenne źródło informacji na temat jakości i niezawodności produktów. Monitorowanie danych dotyczących roszczeń gwarancyjnych i wczesne ostrzeganie w oparciu o te dane ma wielkie znaczenie dla producenta, ponieważ pozwala rozpoznawać i rozwiązywać pojawiające się problemy związane z niezawodnością w jak najkrótszym czasie. Chociaż ten rodzaj monitorowania i wczesnego ostrzegania jest szeroko stosowany w przemyśle motoryzacyjnym, nie przeprowadzono dotąd żadnych badań na temat tych procesów w odniesieniu do produktów sprzedawanych z gwarancją dwuwymiarową. W celu wypełnienia tej luki, dane o reklamacjach składanych na podstawie gwarancji dwuwymiarowych dopasowano modelem uszkodzeń przyspieszonych (accelerated failure model, AFT), a następnie przedstawiono koncepcję karty kontrolnej monitorowania wieloetapowego z korektą ryzyka, dla której zaproponowano odpowiedni czas śledzenia sprzedaży produktu i czas monitorowania, mając na uwadze zmniejszenie wpływu opóźnień w sprzedaży i wahań liczby roszczeń zgłaszanych z tytułu gwarancji. Możliwości zastosowania i dostępność proponowanego modelu porównano z tradycyjną kartą sum skumulowanych.

In this study, the comparative effects of the two disturbances (aquaculture and water level fluctuations) on macroinvertebrate communities were explored in two waterbodies connected with the reservoir system of Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) in China. One water body called Gaoyang Bay which suffered organic pollution from intensive aquaculture. Another named Hanfeng Lake, where the effects of water-level fluctuations are obvious. The results showed that aquaculture could significantly affect the chemical forms of nutrients, decrease the α-diversity and increase the β-diversity of macroinvertebrates although the communities in the treatment area in Gaoyang Bay were not fundamentally changed comparing to the control area in the same bay. The densities of macroinvertebrates in the treatment area were significantly lower than that of the control area. The composition of functional feeding groups in the treatment area was close to that in Hanfeng Lake, but obviously different from that in the control area in Gaoyang Bay and the collectors and predators dominated the communities in this control area with the highest percentages. Although water-level fluctuations had negative effects on the communities by decreasing the α-diversity and increasing the β-diversity, which were confirmed by the values of Simpson index, Shannon-Wiener index and Harrison's index in the control area of Gaoyang bay and Hanfeng Lake, the adverse effects were relative low compared to aquaculture. In the bays of TGR, the small-scale disturbance (aquaculture activities) had more significant negative effects compared to the big-scale disturbance (water-level fluctuations related to dam operation of TGR).

A distance education system is designed based on fuzzy inference, where visualized atmosphere information is shared by all learners in a virtual classroom. It provides high aspirations, low isolated feeling, low stress, and high affinity to learners, and offers learner’s psychological information, individual difference information, and hints of system improvement to the system manager. The effect of visualized atmosphere information in the learner’s psychological states is confirmed by T score of POMS test for 15 graduate students using CAI contents, and comparison experiment with traditional distance education. The proposal of atmosphere information presentation of virtual classroom provides a first step in establishing Education Academy beyond Space Time (EAST).

Content available remote Speech Emotion Recognition Using Hybrid Generative and Discriminative Models

In this paper, we use Sequential Forward Selection to select 8 dimensional frame-level features from the total 69 dimensional features, and we reduce the dimensions of utterance-level eigenvectors from 63 to 12 by fisher discriminant. Then, two kinds of GMM multidimensional likelihoods are proposed for hybrid generative and discriminative models. Experimental results on Berlin emotional speech databases show that the GMM-MAP/SVM series hybrid model is the optimal Hybrid Generative and Discriminative Models, with the recognition rate up to 85.1%.

Elicitation of utilities is among the most time consuming tasks in decision analysis. We search for ways to shorten this phase without compromising the quality of results. We use the results from an empirical experiment with 104 participants. They elicited 9 inner nodes from their one-dimensional utility function over monetary gains and losses using three elicitation techniques. A specific feature of the results is their interval character, as the elicitators are fuzzy rational individuals. The data is used to construct arctan-approximated and linearly interpolated utilities and to compare the results. We form partial samples with 3, 4 and 5 nodes for each participant and each elicitation method, and again interpolate/approximate the utilities. We introduce goodness-of-fit and deterioration measures to analyze the decrease in quality of the utility function due to reduced data nodes. The analysis, using paired-sample tests, leads to the following conclusions: 1) arctan-approximation is more adequate than linear interpolation over the whole samples; 2) 5 inner nodes are sufficient to construct a satisfactory arctan-approximation; 3) arctan-approximation and linear interpolation are almost equal in quality over the partial samples, but the local risk aversion of the linearly interpolated utility function is of poor quality unlike that of the arctan-approximated utility function.

Two organic-inorganic hybrid dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 nickel(II) bis(dithiolate) complexes, [K(DC18C6-B)]2[Ni(mnt)2] (1) and [K(DC18C6-A)]2[Ni(i-mnt)2] (2) (DC18C6-A = cis-syn-cis-dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6; DC18C6-B = cis-anti-cis-dicyclohexyl- 18-crown-6; mnt = maleonitriledithiolate; i-mnt = isomaleonitriledithiolate), have been synthesized by the reactions of dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6with NiCl2 andK2(mnt) or K2(i-mnt) respectively, and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR,UV-Vis spectroscopy and X-ray single crystal diffraction. They both crystallize triclinic, space group P1. Complex 1 shows a neutral molecule composed of two [K(DC18C6-B)]+ complex cations and one [Ni(mnt)2]2– complex anion via two K–N coordination bonds. In complex 2, the [K(DC18C6-A)]+ complex cation and [Ni(i-mnt)2]2– complex anion afford a 1D chain- like structure by N–K–N interactions.
