It is important to perceive the consequences of the presence of cracks or notches on the mechanical properties of the welded component. There are a number of literatures which focus on the fatigue properties of welds. Moreover, the effect of weld parameters on the mechanical properties has been studied by various researchers. However, the work related to the evaluation of tensile properties of welded components and the effect of notch parameters and test parameters on them is relatively scarce. This paper describes an experimental investigation to study the influence of notch root radius and strain rate on the fracture behavior and tensile properties of TIG-welded 6061 aluminum alloy. The tensile tests have been performed on 100 kN Universal Testing Machine under uniaxial static loading. The maximum stress at the notch tip calculated using Neuber's and Stain Energy Density (SED) methods is compared with the present experimental data. Average percentage variation in the value of maximum stress at the notch tip is 14.5% with respect to Neuber's and 6.9% with respect to SED method.

Content available remote Hybrid fixed point theorems in symmetric spaces via common limit range property
EN
In this paper, we point out that some recent results of Vijaywar et al. (Coincidence and common fixed point theorems for hybrid contractions in symmetric spaces, Demonstratio Math. 45 (2012), 611–620) are not true in their present form. With a view to prove corrected and improved versions of such results, we introduce the notion of common limit range property for a hybrid pair of mappings and utilize the same to obtain some coincidence and fixed point results for mappings defined on an arbitrary set with values in symmetric (semi-metric) spaces. Our results improve, generalize and extend some results of the existing literature especially due to Imdad et al., Javid and Imdad, Vijaywar et al. and some others. Some illustrative examples to highlight the realized improvements are also furnished.

Content available Sourcing problem for construction industry
EN
In construction projects, availability of required material at right time at the project site is crucial to complete the project on time and within the budget. The construction project could be delayed for several reasons and this may disrupt supplies. In this work we assume that enough supply may not be available on time if the project delayed excessively unless the project manager has special supply contracts with the suppliers. Usually suppliers react in two ways towards change in delivery dates; either they may increase the price or provide a limited quantity on the negotiated price. In this work we discuss both the cases and provide solution approaches. The efficiency of the approaches is verified using randomly generated data sets.

Content available remote A Common Fixed Point Theorem for Set-valued Contraction Mappings in Menger Space
EN
The aim of this paper is to prove a common fixed point theorem for even number of single-valued and two set-valued mappings in complete Menger space using implicit relation. Our result improves and extends the result of Chen and Chang [Common fixed point theorems in Menger spaces, Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2006, Art. ID 75931, 15 pp].
