Introduction/background: The level of residents’ awareness of the Smart City concept and their approach towards the potential of Smart City dimensions requires a more detailed investigation. The research tool prepared in this article may have an interesting impact on the residents of developing cities. The framework will allow researchers to examine the knowledge of residents about the Smart City concept, and may contribute to the identification of new social needs among city’ inhabitants. Aim of the paper: The main objective of this paper is to define the Smart City as a community-driven phenomenon and determine the current trends in case of Smart City dimensions. Authors undertake the task of synthesizing all dimensions mentioned in the literature about the Smart City concept. Additionally, the paper presents a conceptual research framework that may be used as a research tool in order to measure the level of residents’ awareness of the Smart City concept. Materials and methods: A comprehensive desk research was conducted which included iterative analyses of Smart City literature and Smart City models. A research framework, in form of a questionnaire, was prepared in order to gather qualitative and quantitative data about awareness and needs of residents towards a Smart City. The findings concerning the Smart City concept, that were presented in the article, will require further verification – both in terms of empirical research and further literature analysis, due to the dynamic development of this particular issue. Results and conclusions: The Smart City concept has many definitions and domains that are often perceived from the perspective of the investigated issue. This paper synthesizes all the dimensions mentioned in the available literature and adds new ones as well. Moreover, the preliminary research results indicate that the awareness of the Smart City phenomenon among residents of a developing town is quite high. Research results may be of great interest for the authorities of a particular city. Therefore, the presented framework may induce communication between local communities and city authorities.

Purpose: The article aims to formulate basic assumptions defining the resilience of complex systems falling within social logistics' scope of interest. The article emphasizes the importance of general systems theory for the contemporary understanding of management sciences, with particular emphasis on logistics. The analyzed object of research was referred to the general theory of systems and conclusions were drawn in the form of proposals to shape the social logistics system. In addition, the authors presented an original proposal for the composition of the social logistics system based on observation of the activities of social entities and in-depth analysis of Polish and foreign literature. Findings: Then it was proposed to consolidate the term 'social logistics system resilience' and to conduct empirical research along with an outline of the research procedure. The proposed research procedure will be used and the results of research conducted in accordance with it – described in subsequent articles of the authors. Social implications: In the article, it was concluded that the subject of the study is relatively broad, and the link between the topic of social logistics and supply chain resilience is a research gap that will be filled by series of articles, the starting link of which is this one. The analyzes contained in the article refer to a large extent to the problems of comfort in social life, with particular emphasis on human needs of a social nature. Purpose: The main objective of this paper was to identify and determine the potential of holacracy from the point of view of new product development in the IT industry. Design/methodology/approach: The article contains a literature review on the subject of holacracy and a detailed case study analysis conducted in two IT companies which concerned the new product development process. Also, the article presents research results of a quantitative survey and results of interviews with employees that revealed key attributes of teams working in holacracy. Findings: Research results indicate that companies tend to adapt and adjust holacracy in a unique way to meet their development needs, but such approach requires a specific organizational culture and high-tech resources. Holacracy can enhance NPD process and induce self-development among holacratic development teams, which have a dozen of unique attributes in comparison to traditional teams. Agile development with holacracy is faster and more effective than standard agile development or waterfall approach. Research limitations/implications: The research results presented in the paper were based only on two IT companies which use new approaches to new product development. Therefore, more scientific research should be carried out in the future to discuss this topic further. Practical implications: The author of the article recommends that every company should evaluate its capabilities, organizational culture and technical resources before implementing holacracy. Originality/value: This paper presents and discusses a brand new approach to new product development used by modern IT companies. Holacracy is still considered as a new and innovative approach to managing organizations.

Information technology companies often have to setup a specific virtual environment in order to develop innovative software products. Software development requires a variety of IT tools to ensure a smooth flow of information and proper organisation of tasks within the project team. The evolution of information and communication technologies has allowed virtual teams to share knowledge online, which became more preferable than traditional meetings of developers. The main objective of this article is to determine how virtual project teams are being formed and what are the key attributes of a virtual team – a conceptual Three Aspects Model of a virtual team was presented that may be used in further research. An overview of supportive project management software solutions for virtual teams has also been conducted. The research results presented in the paper indicate that various IT tools lack support in some aspects of virtual project teams.
