We wstępie do artykułu, wskazano na znaczącą rolę, jaką odgrywają odlewy artystyczne w kulturze społeczeństwa, oraz rozwój tej gałęzi produkcji odlewniczej w świecie. Katedra Odlewnictwa przywiązuje duże znaczenie do kształcenia studentów również w tej dziedzinie. Przedstawiono ciekawsze osiągnięcia w wytwarzaniu odlewów artystycznych podając zastosowane technologie, a także wymieniając współpracujących z Katedrą artystów. Opisano również realizację monumentalnych odlewów artystycznych, uzupełnione bogatym materiałem ilustracyjnym. Dużą satysfakcją dla zespołu Zakładu Odlewnictwa Artystycznego, są coraz częściej podejmowane prace dyplomowe z zakresu odlewnictwa artystycznego.

In the introduction to this article the important part which the art castings play in the culture of a community and the development of this branch of foundry production in the world are pointed out. The Department of Foundry Practice attach great importance to the education of students also in this domain. The more interesting achievements of the Department in manufacturing art castings presenting the applied technologies and also mentioning the names of the artists cooperating with the Department are shown. The accomplishment of monumental art castings was described and completed with rich illustrating material. The staff of the Art Casting Department find great satisfaction in the fact that theses from the domain of art casting are more and more often undertaken by the students.

Katedra Odlewnictwa w Politechnice Częstochowskiej, której twórcą był prof. Sakwa działa od ponad pół wieku, ale od początku lat siedemdziesiątych z Jego inicjatywy zajęto się także technikami odlewnictwa artystycznego. Nauczanie tego przedmiotu uważał prof. Sakwa za bardzo użyteczne dla wykształcenia współczesnego inżyniera. Galeria, stanowiąca bogaty zbiór liczący ponad 300 eksponatów, została przekazana przez prof. Sakwę jako dar dla Politechniki Cz-stochowskiej, stanowiący swoiste laboratorium dla szkolenia studentów.

The Foundry Department at the Technical University in Częstochowa, the originator of which was Prof. W. Sakwa, had been acting for more than half a century, but on his initiative since the beginning of the seventieth they have been occupied also with the techniques of art casting. Prof. W. Sakwa thought that giving lectures on this subject was very useful in educating present-day engineers. The Gallery, being a rich collection of more than 300 exhibits, was given by Prof. W. Sakwa to the Technical University in Częstochowa as a particular laboratory for the training of students.

Autor związany z odlewnictwem artystycznym w sposób, jak nikt inny dotąd, z racji nie tylko wykształcenia technicznego, ale również będąc profesjonalnym rzeźbiarzem, dzieli się z Czytelnikami swoimi odczuciami o dzwonach. Człowiek, wiązał z dzwonami swoje nadzieje i oczekiwania, ale również oprócz miłości był okrutny, gdyż oskarżał go, bił, katował, gilotynował i więził... W artykule przedstawiono historię największego morderstwa dzwonów począwszy od Rewolucji Francuskiej, potem Październikowej aż po czasy Drugiej Wojny Światowej. Stąd dzieje dzwonów ubarwiono licznymi historiami, które jak mity greckie "nigdy się nie zdarzyły, ale są zawsze..."

The author, being connected with art castings in such a way as nobody else till now not only because of his technical education, but also as a professional sculptor, shares with the readers his feelings concerning the bellls. People have joined their hopes and expectations with bells but besides love, they also have been cruel because they laid charge against them, beat, tortured and guillotined them or even kept them imprisoned. In the article the history of the greatest murder of bells beginning from the French Revolution, through the October Revolution till the times of the Second World War are presented. Hence, the history of bells has been coloured by numerous stories which like the myths of Greece "have never happened, but always are alive...".

Całościowe odlewanie monumentów należy do tych technologii odlewniczych, które wyszły z użycia, lecz stanowią ważny etap w historii odlewnictwa artystycznego. Artykuł przypomina tę technologię w związku z uroczystością odsłonięcia w Mediolanie posągu Konia według projektu Leonarda da Vinci dla uczczenia działalności tego niezwykłego artysty międzi innymi w dziedzinie sztuki odlewniczej.

Casting a monument as a whole belongs to these foundry technologies which have gone out of use, but still make an important stage in the history of art casting. The article reminds this technology on account of the ceremony which took place in Milan and concerned the unveiling of the statue of The Horse made occording to the project of Leonardo da Vinci, to commemorate the activities of this extremely talented artist, among others in the domain of art castings.
