The application of massing handling theory for evaluation of the application of wharves and loading facilities in the maritime port

This work presents the general characteristics of the port system. It defines sets and functions describing the structure and work of the port. Moreover, it characterizes foundations of the massive handling theory. It provides basic literature information about selected processes and models of the massive handling theory. On the example of a transportation company serving the loading on ships in the port of Szczecin, it shows the loading method. The material loading onto ships was the sodium water glass. There are observation results of operation times comprising the data available to determine parameters of the massive handling theory. Operations covered in the analysis include: the arrival of the ship at the port’s road, waiting for enter the port, passing through the fairway, waiting for loading, loading, determination of the cargo’s weight, preparation of documents and waiting for leaving the port. It presents critical remarks about possibilities of using the data obtained to describe loading cargo on a ship with the use of elements of the massive handling theory.

Scharakteryzowano podstawy teorii masowej obsługi. Przedstawiono podstawowe informacje literaturowe nt. wybranych procesów i modeli teorii masowej obsługi. Na przykładzie firmy transportowej obsługującej załadunek na statki w porcie Szczecin scharakteryzowano sposób załadunku. Scharakteryzowano główne elementy portu składające się strukturę załadunku ładunku na statek z nabrzeży. Materiałami załadowywanymi na statki są szkliwo sodowe i złom nierdzewny. Przedstawiono wyniki obserwacji czasów operacji składających się na dane możliwe do wykorzystania w celu określenia parametrów teorii masowej obsługi. Operacje uwzględnione w analizie to: przybycie statku na redę portu, oczekiwanie na wejście do portu, przejście przez tor wodny, oczekiwanie na załadunek, załadunek, wyznaczanie ciężaru ładunku, przygotowanie dokumentów i oczekiwanie na wyjście z portu. Przedstawiono krytyczne uwagi nt. możliwości wykorzystania uzyskanych danych do opisu załadunku ładunku na statek elementami teorii masowej obsługi.

In this paper were characterized basics of the theory of queues. The fundamental information of literature on selected processes and the theory of queues models was characterized. The method of loading was presented by taking into account the example of a transport company that supports loading on the vessel in the port of Szczecin. The main components that make up the port structure of the cargo load to the vessel from the quays. The basic material of cargo loading is sodium silicate and scrap of stainless steel. The paper presents the results of observations of the times of operations that make up the data usable to determine the parameters of the theory of queues. Available operations included in the analysis are: the arrival of the vessel to the roadstead port, waiting to enter the port, crossing the fairway, waiting for loading, loading, determination of the weight of the load, preparation of documents and waiting to leave the port. In publication was taken the critical discussion of concerning the possible use of the data obtained to describe the loading of cargo on the vessel by the elements of the theory of queues.
