High reliability is one of the most important requirements in technical operations and can be assessed by estimation of the actual operational state. This operation is called technical diagnostics. The magnetic induction around an induction motor is taken as a value indicating the state of its functional properties. The modelling of the magnetic field around an induction motor is performed by means of the ANSYS program in order to get information about the shape of the magnetic field and about the size of magnetic induction both outside a faultless induction motor and inside a motor with an eccentric air gap. The results are checked by measuring the outside magnetic field of the induction motor during its operation by means of the MAGNET-PHYSIK apparatus.
Failures of staring squirrel cages occur very often by asynchronous motors with double squirrel cage working in heavy operational conditions. users of these motors stream to detect this failure in the beginning in order to prevent large operational problems. From that reason the diagnostic method of analyze staring stator current was used.

In the present time asynchronous motors supplied from frequency converters are enforced for controlled drives. By small and medium rated power it is predominantly about frequency converters with voltage intercircuit. The course of voltage that comes to the motor terminals and so into the stator winding is not sinusoidal but consisted of rectangular pulses. In dependence of converter control, the length of the cable between converter and motor etc. the above mentioned voltage pulses have high rise time and overshoots, amplitude of which considerable beats the voltage magnitude in the intercircuit. In our paper we want to present our results of modelling of transient effects in the system converter - cable line - motor.
