The paper examines the options for replacing the current energy mix of non-renewable, conventional energy sources solely with renewable sources in the long term within the context of the Slovak environment, possibly combined with nuclear energy in the 50-year horizon. Vital needs are outlined in household energy consumption and energy consumption for industrial and transportation purposes to fulfil in order for Slovakia to become independent of foreign sources in energy supplies.

The paper describes functions and legal obligations of Electricity market operator. One section of this article describes history of Slovak EMO establishment and its operation if first few months of existence. In further text shows curse of electricity price and quantities of traded electricity by Day-Ahead Market Organizer in past few months. In future development of liberalized electricity market is expected to EMO take over some new features from Transmission System Operator, so the last section is devoted to possible developments of electricity market in the future.

The paper presents novel approach in distribution protection technic of fault line selection based on analysis of generated transient. Advantages of discrete wavelet transform for signal analysis are discused. The potential of using discrete wavelet transform in protective relay is examined and model of relay using transient phenomena to fault line selection in distribution system is proposed and next integrated into ATP simulation program. Detailed model of distribution system was made in ATPDraw with connected relay through CT model for consideration of possible saturation effect. Simulations were performed for algorithm evaluation with included detailed model of arc fault or high impedance ground fault and results show excellent discrimination function under various operating conditions.

This article deals with opening of market with electrical energy in Slovak Republic. In Slovakia the office for regulation of network industry arose in year 2001. The opening of this market with electrical energy is only at beginning and chiefly it will depend on realization of on-coming laws.

Artykuł omawia zagadnienia otwarcia rynku energii elektrycznej w Republice Słowacji. Urząd właściwy dla regulacji przemysłu sieciowego został utworzony w Słowacji w 2001 r. Proces otwierania tego rynku dla energii elektrycznej dopiero się zaczyna i głównie będzie uzależniony od realizacji wchodzących w życie przepisów prawnych.

Dokładnie chodzi o zagadnienia dotyczące awarii w UCTE 28.09.2003 r. To uszkodzenie umożliwiło weryfikację stanu gotowości w obszarze indywidualnej kontroli, biorąc pod uwagę aspekty techniczne i personalne.
