This study develops solution of one-dimensional space–time fractional advection–dispersion equation (FADE). Various forms of dispersion and velocity profiles (i.e. space dependent and both space–time dependent) are considered throughout the study. Homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is used to solve the problem semi-analytically. The advantage of HPM is that it does not require much information about the boundary of the aquifer. The initial condition may be measured for an aquifer, but sometimes it is very difficult to specify the boundary conditions. The FADE is employed for modeling the fate of contaminants in both homogeneous and heterogeneous porous formations subject to an increasing spatially dependent source condition. It is found that the contaminant concentration changes with the order of FADE as fractional-order derivative contains the memory of the system, i.e. how the system changes from one integer order to another integer order. FADEs are used to model the non-local system, hence this study helps understand the physical meaning of parameters involved in the velocity and dispersion.

Evolution of manufacturing technology has been a definitive indicator of human society’s development. From the wheels that started the spree to the world of machines that have revolutionized the manufacturing processes, manufacturing tools have been indicative of eras of development. In this paper, we have focused on the branch of engineering that deals with manufacturing - specifically its structure in India. In this study we investigate some premier government institutes with respect to Manufacturing Engineering Education. We have also included the technical education model at different education level.

Dążenia do poprawy jakości koksu metalurgicznego i rozszerzenia bazy surowcowej o węgle o słabszych właściwościach koksotwórczych wywołały w Tata Steel obszerny program badań nad usprawnieniem technologii koksowania. Przeważyło zastosowanie ubijania wsadu według technologii Saarberg-Interplan. Przedstawiono efekty techniczne i gospodarcze tych działań.

Pursuing the improvement of metallurgical coke quality and expansion of a raw material base by coals of weaker coking properties resulted in Tata Steel in an extensive research programme on improvement in coking technology. The favoured one was the application of the input compaction according to Saarberg-Interplan technology. Technical and economic effects of these activities have been presented.
