Measuring of input and output power of frequency converter in the same time s quite specific task. The input voltage frequency is the same but the output voltage frequency varies. Both input and output power has to be measured from the same time window in the same time. The integer multiply of signal cycles has to be processed. Optionally the mechanical power from analog or frequency signals from the torque and revolution sensors can be measured by this analyzer. The input current and output voltage contain many harmonic components and thus the sampling frequency has to be sufficiently high.

The PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) is used for accurate measurement of synchronous phasor of voltages and currents. Based on synchronous phasor continuous measuremcnt al the diffcrent location of distribution network is possible prevent fault which can cause blackout. Synchronous phasor measurement is dcscribed in IEEE C37.118-2005 standard. The IEEE C37.118-2005 is primarily focuscd on communication with the PMU and precision of the measurement at steady statc. PMU manufacturers declare compliance with IEEE C37.118-2005, which doesn't mean correct behaviour of the PMU for dynamie changes in the power network. The new standard for the PMU is currcntly developing. This standard should contain both the issues included in IEEE C37.118-2005 and description of PMU test- ing in connection with dynamie changes in power network. This article deals with the implementation of tests for testing the dynamie properties of PMU. These tests are conducted by tester, which was designed and implementcd based on virtual instrumentation. The results of several tests of commcrcial PMUs are presented in the article.
