Ochrona przyrody jest od wielu lat priorytetem działań Unii Europejskiej. Istnieje potrzeba położenia większego nacisku na edukację ekologiczną, dzieci i młodzieży w trosce o przyszłe pokolenia. W prezentowanej pracy przedstawiono próbę ukazania roli, jaką chemia odgrywa w rozwiązywaniu problemów ekologicznych. W trosce o zwiększenie efektywności edukacji ekologicznej należy w planach edukacyjnych, w tym również na lekcjach chemii, umieścić więcej zagadnień dotyczących ochrony przyrody i ekologii. Zwrócono również uwagę na konieczność rozpoczęcia edukacji ekologicznej w pierwszych etapach edukacji dziecka.

Teachers and educators cali education to be a constant process of influencing students in order to form their consciousness. Trying to increase ecological consciousness of our society we have to put the most emphasize on ecological education of youth and children because the future generations will have to deal with much greater problems than we arę facing nów. Educational guidelines in the European Union arę set to prepare children to deal with prevention of natural resourses from the very early age. In order to increase the effectiveness of education we have to systematically plan to include ecological subjects in all of the lecture plans and extra curriculum activities. In the enclosed work we try to show the role chemistry plays in solving problems concerning ecology and creating awareness about negative chemical composition changes accumulated in ecosystem. We also propose methodical studies on proecological subjects as an effect of intellectual needs of students. We hope that this educational program will increase ecological awareness of the whole society if we start the educational process at a very early age of school pupies.
