The present work investigates the compressive properties of SBCF/PA12 commingled unidirectional composites manufactured by the hot compression moulding technique. Different forms of failure mechanism have been observed microscopically for different laminate thicknesses (6, 8, 10, and 12 layers). In addition, fibre-length distribution curves have been developed at failure points. Thus, failure explanations for the SBCF/PA 12 composite during the compression test could be developed, depending upon microscopic observations. Moreover, the effect of laminate thicknesses on compressive behaviour; stress, strain and modulus has been analysed. It was found that by increasing laminate thickness the compressive stress is decreased, the strain is increased and the modulus is decreased significantly.

Textile Technology Department, University of Applied Science, Mönchengladbach, Germany A new flexible cloth fell movement measuring device, hereafter referred to as the 'needle-mechanical device', has been developed to facilitate the use, for the first time, of a measuring position just 2 millimetres from the cloth fell. In addition, the experimental set-up was built in a combination between the needle-mechanical device and the Weave Master to record the dynamic cloth fell's movement cycles on-loom. The results of these measurements were analysed and discussed in the light of the theory developed in part I.

Extensive coverage of previous work in the area of cloth fell movement, the circumstances of its beginning, and its influences are reviewed. The review also includes previous work describing factors that affect cloth fell movement. The advantages and disadvantages of the methods used hitherto are underlined and the need of a satisfactory measuring method is emphasised.

The Egyptian government has shown substantial consideration regarding the rehabilitation and restructuring of inefficient companies in the public sector with regard to converting them into profitable companies which will be ready for privatisation. Furthermore, textile manufacturing can be considered as one of the biggest industries in the public sector. So, the idea of showing how textile manufacturers in the public sector can be developed to meet the requirements of marketing and product strategies has been initiated. This study has been prepared to assist in developing one public-sector textile manufacturer to meet the requirements of a quality management system, which in turn reflects on improving the mill performance. Applying the technical means of quality management in the spinning industry, preparing the spinning industry for quality agreements, requirement profiles for different yarn quality characteristics and types, spinning quality problems and solutions, and optimum yarn quality at optimum costs are the key areas which are covered in a unique manner.
