Catalytic cracking of volatiles derived from wet pig manure (WPM), dried pig manure and their compost was investigated over Ni/Al2O3  and Ni-loaded on lignite char (Ni/C). Non-catalytic pyrolysis of WPM resulted in a carbon conversion of 43.3% and 18.5% in heavy tar and light tar, respectively. No tar was formed when Ni/Al2O3  was introduced for WPM gasification and the gas yield significantly reached to a high value of 64.4 mmol/g at 650°C. When Ni/C was employed, 5.9% of carbon in the light tar was found at 650°C, revealing that the Ni/C is not active enough for cracking of tarry materials. The pyrolysis vapor was cracked completely and gave a H2-rich tar free syngas in high yield. High water amount of WPM promotes steam gasification of char support, causing the deactivation of Ni/C. Such a study may be beneficial to the development of livestock manure catalytic gasification technology.

A model to optimize the planning of the chemical integrated system comprised by multi-devices and multi-products has been proposed in this paper. With the objective to make more profits, the traditional model for optimizing production planning has been proposed. The price of chemicals, the market demand, and the production capacity have been considered as mutative variables, then an improved model in which some parameters are not constant has been developed and a new method to solve the grey linear programming has been proposed. In the grey programming model, the value of credibility can be suggested by the decision-makers, and the results of the production planning calculated by the model can help them to achieve their desired target. An actual case has been studied by the proposed methodology, and the proposed methodology can be popularized to other cases.

A mathematical model relating operation profits with reflux ratio of a stage distillation column was established. In order to optimize the reflux ratio by solving the nonlinear objective function, an improved particle swarm algorithm was developed and has been proved to be able to enhance the searching ability of basic particle swarm algorithm significantly. An example of utilizing the improved algorithm to solve the mathematical model was demonstrated; the result showed that it is efficient and convenient to optimize the reflux ratio for a distillation column by using the mathematical model and improved particle swarm algorithm.
