Thermal tourism in Poland has been gaining in popularity for over a decade now. This refers to both the supply and demand sides of the market. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to describe the current situation, as well as the prospects of formation and development of the thermal tourism market in Poland. To do that, a number of research methods had to be employed, including a critical analysis of literature on the subject, statistical data analysis, a case study (the example of Poland), methods of observation and inference by deduction within the scope of the research question asked. Based on the results of secondary research and an in-depth review of literature on the subject, one can conclude that Polish thermal tourism market is not growing steadily. On the one hand, there is considerable consumers’ interest in using geothermal pools, while on the other the geothermal potential for medical and recreational purposes remains unexploited.

Od kilkunastu lat turystyka termalna w Polsce cieszy się coraz większą popularnością. Stąd też celem artykułu jest próba nakreślenia obecnej sytuacji oraz perspektyw powstania i rozwoju rynku turystyki termalnej w Polsce. Realizacja celu pracy wymagała zastosowania kilku metod badawczych, takich jak krytyczna analiza literatury przedmiotu, analiza danych statystycznych, studium przypadku (przykład Polski), metody obserwacji, oraz wnioskowania przez dedukcję w zakresie postawionego pytania badawczego. Na podstawie wyników badań wtórnych i dogłębnego przeglądu literatury przedmiotu można stwierdzić, że rynek turystyki termalnej rozwija się nierównomiernie. Bowiem z jednej strony mamy do czynienia z dużym zainteresowaniem konsumentów korzystaniem z basenów geotermalnych z drugiej zaś obserwuje się niewykorzystany potencjał geotermalny mogący służyć do celów leczniczych i rekreacyjnych.

The publication presents the characteristics of Polish spa enterprises through the prism of economic results underlying the selection of companies for privatization, and those that remain under full state control. Work also recognizes problem of reducing the size of the medicinal potential of spas in the context of the privatization process of health resort companies.

Artykuł ma na celu określenie różnic między tzw. kuracjuszami komercyjnymi a kontraktowymi. Dla osiągnięcia zamierzonego celu posłużono się wynikami badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych wśród kuracjuszy uzdrowiska Wysowa. Wykorzystanie metod analizy statycznej pozwoliło wyłonić kluczowe cechy różnicujące oba typy kuracjuszy.

Today non-traumatic low back pain (LBP) is a social disease being attributed to weakening the function of abdominal and back muscles. Condition of deep muscles, inaccessible to non-invasive examinations, can be assessed by means of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The method allows for the assessment of cross-sections, muscle girths, as well as their intensity (brightness). The aim of the investigations was to determine the opportunities to employ MRI technique for assessing the geometry of muscles which stabilize spinal column. The study covered 4 women without LBP symptoms. The cross-sectional area, thickness and brightness of abdominal and back muscles were measured at the level of L3–L4. Measurement of geometrical parameters in the positions studied was aimed at setting such measurement conditions that would force higher isometric contraction in the muscles examined. As a result of measurements it can be inferred that other conditions of the experiment affect neither an increase in cross-sectional surface area nor the thickness of the muscles examined. The differences observed in geometrical parameters of the muscles testify to different coordination of muscle activation in the positions studied, both in young and older subjects, and to the purposefulness of continuing this type of measurements.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań nasycenia oraz przestrzennego zróżnicowania sudeckich uzdrowiskowych gmin i miejscowości w wybrane elementy infrastruktury technicznej tzn.: sieć wodociągową, kanalizacyjną, gazową oraz sieć telefonizacji przewodowej. Dokonano również oceny tempa zmian wybranych elementów infrastruktury technicznej w sudeckim regionie uzdrowiskowym. Tematyka artykułu jest bardzo ważna, ponieważ uzdrowiska są obszarami chronionymi, spełniającymi ustawowe funkcje, których rozwój zależy w bardzo dużym stopniu od odpowiedniego stanu infrastruktury technicznej.

In article is presented research results illustrate saturation, with selected of technical infrastructure, such as: watterworks, sewerage system, telecommunication network or gas grid and their spatial differentiation in sudethian health resort. The opinions of pace were executed in sudethian spa region also on chosen units of technical infrastructure. The subject of article is very important, because the health resort are the areas protected fulfilling the legal functions which development also depends from state of technical infrastructure.

W artykule przedstawiono stan środowiska naturalnego i wybranych elementów infrastruktury sanitacyjnej na obszarach górskich i podgórskich uzdrowisk w Polsce. Temat artykułu jest bardzo ważny, ponieważ uzdrowiska są obszarami chronionymi, spełniającymi ustawowe funkcje. W pracy dokonano analizy stanu środowiska naturalnego i wybranych elementów infrastruktury sanitacyjnej w górskich gminach uzdrowiskowych w Polsce. Wyodrębniono także ważne akty prawne, związane z uzdrowiskami i ochroną ich środowiska oraz błędy przeszłości w zakresie zanieczyszczenia środowiska na obszarach uzdrowiskowych.

In the article is presented condition of environment natural and select elements of infrastructure sanitation on mountainous areas. Theme of article is very important because spas are areas protected and realize legal functions. In work one executed analysis of condition environment natural and select elements in infrastructure sanitation in mountainous communes spas in Poland. There are also separated important legal acts connected with spaś and their with protection of environment and past errors in range of environment pollution on spa’s regions.
