Celem publikacji jest określenie procesu szkolenia w dziedzinie bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy w aspekcie analizy wymagań w zakresie organizacji i doskonalenia. Zakres opracowania obejmuje następujące grupy zagadnień problemowych: terminologia dotycząca szkolenia w dziedzinie bhp, zasady organizacji szkolenia w dziedzinie bhp, wybrane aspekty pedagogiki i systemów zarządzania, zasady doskonalenia szkolenia w dziedzinie bhp.

Training can be considered as a subject of interest for pedagogy and didactics, a requirement for management systems or one of the basic obligations of the employer. The aim of the publication is to determine the process of training in the field of occupational health and safety in the aspect of analyse the requirements for organization and improvement. The scope of the study includes the following groups of problem issues: terminology related to training in the field of occupational health and safety, organization principles of training in the field of occupational health and safety, selected aspects of pedagogy and management systems, improvement principles of training in the field of occupational health and safety.

The profession of a physiotherapist is an independent medical profession, the sta- tus of which as a regulated profession is based, among others, on the Act on the pro- fession of physiotherapist and the regulations on education standard of study field of physiotherapy. The aim of the publication is to determine the specifics of the working environment in the profession of a physiotherapist in the aspect of analyse the require- ments in the legal system and the system of higher education and science. The scope of the study includes the following groups of problematic issues: law basics for the pro- fession of a physiotherapist, list of professional tasks and activities of a physiotherapist, professional self-government and professional ethics of physiotherapists, educational standard of study field of physiotherapy, law basics for occupational health and safety.

The aim of the publication is to analysis the explosion hazard in the aspect of revie- wing the legal basis based on the legal information system (ISAP legal acts database) and technical standards based on the standardization information system (PKN Knowledge standards search engine). The scope of the publication includes the following issues: legal basis for explosion hazard, essential requirements for protective devices and systems intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere, minimum requirements for occupational health and safety in the scope of the possibility of the occurrence of an explosive atmosphere, technical standards for explosion hazard.

The publication deals with the issue of safety engineering and occupational health and safety in terms of the areas of knowledge, education and science. Safety engineering is an area of knowledge, an area of education (field of higher studies), an area of science (a new discipline in the field of engineering and technical sciences). On the other hand, occupational health and safety is an area of knowledge (e.g.: occupational health and safety service, legal information, standardization information, industry information), an area of education (e.g.: training in the field of occupational health and safety, occupation of an occupational health and safety technician, field of higher studies, postgraduate studies), yet it is not an autonomous area of science as an independent scientific discipline (it has a chance of becoming a research area or scientific specialty in the discipline of safety engineering). The scope of the publication comprises selected aspects of safety engineering, selected aspects of occupational health and safety and a review of requirements in the field of occupational risk assessment. The research and analyses included publicly available data in the field of higher education and science system (including: POL-on system, RAD-on system, Polish Science database, website of the Council of Scientific Excellence): universities offering fields of study in safety engineering and occupational health and safety, entities and persons conducting research activities in safety engineering, entities authorized to award doctoral degrees and habilitated doctor degrees in safety engineering, persons declaring scientific specialties in safety engineering and occupational health and safety. In the higher education and science system, the following were identified: two entities authorized to award doctoral degrees and habilitated doctor degrees in safety engineering (the Fire University, the WSB University), nine entities conducting scientific activities in the discipline of safety engineering and 113 people conducting scientific activities in the discipline of safety engineering (people with at least a doctoral degree, including 13 people with the academic title of professor and 32 people with the academic degree of associate professor).

Purpose: The publication cancers one of problems related with safety in mining industry -the marking of escape routes in mining excavations. A review of literature on the subject and applicable legal regulations and standards, and authors’ study on the subject covering use of color-lighted signs created by them are presented. Design/methodology/approach: Literature studies were conducted: 1) to identify methods and findings in researches on marking of escape routes, described in scientific publications; 2) to define the requirements set out in legal acts and standards. The field study of the marking of escape routes was carried out in a training mine gallery in which there are conditions reflecting the real ones in underground mining excavations. The observations and questionnaire research were conducted during a training of a group of 20 professional mine rescuers. The following variables were set for the experiment: distance (5, 10 and 15 m), color (white, green, blue, red), shape (square, arrow). Findings: The article presents the results of pilot test in the field of the marking of escape routes in mine excavations. Different colors and shapes of the signs, and different distances of observation were taken into account. White color was found best to assure signs detectability but least appropriate if shape identification is required. Red and green colors were indicated as recommended if the shape identification is the evaluation criterion. Research limitations/implications: The research was dedicated to the underground mining industry, but can be adapted to other working sites where the evacuation takes place in similar conditions (lack of visibility and smoke). Practical implications: The research revealed among others that: 1) Polish regulations do not imply detailed rules as regards signage of escape routes in underground coal mines, which gives floor for development of new concepts and designs, 2) it is possible to propose color-lighted signs for effective marking escape routes in underground coal mines. Originality/value: The publication contains the original results of pilot test in the field of the marking of escape routes in mining excavations, and they can be addressed to persons managing mining plants and managers of mining supervision authorities.

Publikacja dotyczy problematyki inżynierii bezpieczeństwa w aspekcie klasyfikacji nauki w Polsce jako nowej dyscypliny naukowej oraz klasyfikacji obszarów kształcenia jako istniejącego kierunku studiów. Opracowanie zawiera kolejno: klasyfikację dziedzin nauki i dyscyplin naukowych, wykaz uczelni prowadzących kierunki studiów związane z bezpieczeństwem, wykaz jednostek naukowych posiadających uprawnienia akademickie w zakresie nauk o bezpieczeństwie i wybranych dyscyplin nauk inżynieryjno-technicznych, wykaz jednostek naukowych mogących aplikować do uzyskania uprawnień w zakresie nadawania stopnia naukowego w dyscyplinie inżynieria bezpieczeństwa.

The publication concerns the problems of safety engineering in terms of the classification of science in Poland as a new scientific discipline and the classification of education areas as an existing field of study. The study contains, in turn: classification of fields of science and scientific disciplines, a list of universities offering fields of study related to safety, a list of scientific units with academic rights in the field of safety sciences and selected disciplines of engineering and technical sciences, a list of scientific units that may apply for authorization to award degree in the discipline of safety engineering.

The publication concerns the problems of safety culture in terms of employee awareness in the field of fire protection on the example of employees in the energy industry. The study contains, in turn: introduction, legal basis for fire protection, description of research object, description of research methodology, analysis of selected survey research results, summary. Own research was prepared as part of the implementation of the master’s thesis by Daniel Stępniak under the supervision of Marcin Krause entitled “Analysis of employee awareness in the field of fire protection on the example of the energy industry" (University of Occupational Safety Management in Katowice, Katowice 2022).

This publication concerns the problems of occupational safety and health in hard coal mines, the basic elements of which are occupational risk and mine hazards. The paper constitutes an analysis of general, industry-specific and detailed requirements encompassing selected legal regulations and guidelines indicated in professional literature pertaining to occupational risk assessment. The elaboration contains the authors’ proposal of requirements regarding occupational risk assessment for the workplace of mine rescuer, which includes the workplace description as a research object and the selection of rules and methods of risk assessment.

Publikacja dotyczy problematyki bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy w górnictwie węgla kamiennego, której podstawowymi elementami są ryzyko zawodowe i zagrożenia górnicze. Praca stanowi analizę wymagań ogólnych, branżowych i szczegółowych, które obejmują wybrane przepisy prawne i wytyczne literaturowe dotyczące oceny ryzyka zawodowego. Opracowanie zawiera autorską propozycję wymagań dotyczących oceny ryzyka zawodowego na stanowisku pracy ratownika górniczego, która obejmuje opis stanowiska pracy jako obiektu badań oraz dobór zasad i metod oceny ryzyka.

The purpose of this article was to identify occupational hazards at the laser cutter operator's workplace and to assess occupational risk. The article also indicates the basic requirements for the analyzed workplace. Research methods included: observation of the workplace (using a checklist), interviews with the employer, selected employees and a health and safety specialist, as well as analysis of the company's internal documents. The occupational risk assessment carried out at work using the Risk Score method showed that there are many different risk factors for accidents or diseases related to the work performed at the position of the laser cutter operator. However, thanks to the preventive measures applied, they are in the analyzed workplace at an acceptable (acceptable) level.
