Internal stresses and deformations of constructions are formed due to uneven heating or cooling of a metal. Welding deformations of stainless steel are larger than those of mild steel. Important constructions exploited in difficult conditions are most often made of stainless steel, so it is important to be able to forecast welding deformations and make them smaller. The experimental and analytical analysis of longitudinal and transverse deformations of austenitic steel 08X18H10T (X08CrNiTi 18-10 EN 10027) plates welded by the MIG method was carried out. The methodologies of Okerblom, Valter and Pflug were applied to calculate the deformations. The results of the analytic analysis were compared to the results of the experimental analysis. It was found that it was the calculation methodology determining longitudinal and transverse deformations of Pflug that had the greatest level of conformity with the experimental results.
