The concept of a miniature transmission electron microscope (TEM) on chip is presented. This idea assumes manufacturing of a silicon-glass multilayer device that contains a miniature electron gun, an electron optics column integrated with a high vacuum micropump, and a sample microchamber with a detector. In this article the field emission cathode, utilizing carbon nanotubes (CNT), and an electron optics column with Einzel lens, made of silicon, are both presented. The elements are assembled with the use of a 3D printed polymer holder and tested in a vacuum chamber. Effective emission and focusing of the electron beam have been achieved. This is the first of many elements of the miniature MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) transmission electron microscope that must be tested before the whole working system can be manufactured.

Hybrid optimization algorithm using evolutionary algorithm and local search method with its application in digital FIR filter design

This paper is devoted to the application of an Evolutionary Algorithm to the design of Finite Impulse Response filters (FIR). A hybrid algorithm is proposed, which consists of a robust global optimization method (Evolutionary Algorithm - EA) and a good local optimization method (Quasi-Newton - QN). An experimental comparison of the hybrid algorithm against EA and QN alone indicates that EA yields filters with the better amplitude characteristics than QN. Furthermore the hybrid method yields filters with even better amplitude characteristics and in some times, it needs significantly less time than EA alone to reach good solutions.

This article summarizes current achievements in telecommunication being one of the fastest developing fields of life and introduces a term of the information society; it also points to a special role of neostrada tp in rts forming. lndividual chapters present innovative solutions offered to customers in multipakiettp service, such as: Internet communication, video on demand, or DVD quality television. Except for the information on the already existing solutions, the article also outlines the plans of development of services of Telekomunikacja Polska (Polish Telecommunication) in the nearest future.

In this paper we study the genotype diversity of the base population. We provide evidence that the diversity is closely related to the genealogy of individuals and to the degree of mutation. We give analytical formulas for the diversity distribution in the space of binary and real vectors. The theoretical results are supported by numerical experiments.

Opisano ruchomy system radarowy ARTHUR lokalizujący broń artyleryjską, opracowany przez firmę Ericsson. System jest wykorzystywany do wykrywania i lokalizacji nieprzyjacielskich stanowisk ogniowych podczas strzelania we wszystkich fazach walki oraz do kierowania ogniem artylerii własnej. Dzięki małej masie, małym rozmiarom i zabudowie na pojedynczym pojeździe, wyróżnia się bardzo wysoką mobilnością taktyczną i operacyjną. Może pracować blisko własnych linii frontu, a także może być transportowany na duże odległości przez samolot klasy C-130.

ARTHUR is a mobile weapon-locating radar system developed by Ericsson. ARTHUR is specifically designed to detect and locate enemy artillery during all phases of a battle and to fire-control of own artillery. ARTHUR searches the horizon for hostile projectiles, detects its, tracks the rounds and calculates their trajectories, calculates the position of the firing batteries and the impact areas. The low weight, small size and single vehicle configuration of ARTHUR ensures a very high tactical and operational mobility. It can operate close to own front lines, and for deployment over longer distances it drives easily into a C-130-size aircraft.

The ANS (Access Node Switch) - a family of flexible multi-purpose digital switches is presented. The ANS is based on the unique Ericsson GSP or Generic System Platform. Deploying the representatives of ANS family - ANS Local - in rural areas, allows the operator to introduce new and enhanced services in remote locations. Applications and functionality are described, as well as the operation and maintenance system ANS Manager.
