The processes of manufacturing and testing of basic mechanical and fatigue properties of Fiber Metal Laminates (FML) based on the steel-C/epoxide that have been performed at the Institute of Aerospace Engineering this year are described in the paper The concept of FML is briefly explained and potential applications and possible modifications to improve the properties of the laminate are discussed.

This paper provides a study of the bimaterial consisting of the metal AICu4Mg Alclad sheet and the UD C/epoxy prepreg composite reinforcement. The resulting properties are compared and evaluated with the help of ILSS short beam test. The influences of various technological factors, such as surface preparation, co-cure pressure and the application of the film adhesive KFL 120 and the cold two components adhesive PL 20 are studied, as well the artificial ageing at the hot/wet conditions.
