Traditionally, the 43rd Winter School on Vibroacoustical Hazards Suppressions national conference was organized by Upper Silesian Division of the Polish Acoustical Society (main organizers) and by The Committee on Acoustics of The Polish Academy of Sciences (co-organizer). The Conference, as in previous years, was held in Szczyrk. The conference is a forum for all environmental vibroacoustic fields. Particularly it concerns traffic noise, industry noise, vibroacoustics of machines, room acoustics, building acoustics, noise protection and similar problems. Works which are presented during the School are theoretical, experimental, measuring, technical, applied and normative. The School lectures and other conference materials will be published in the “Materials of the XLIII Winter School on Vibroacoustical Hazards Suppressions” (in Polish) edited by dr. Roman Bukowski. This publication will be intended for participants of the School and for many libraries in Poland. Moreover you can find in this issue abstracts of some lectures presented at conference.

The one dimensional plane thermal wave influence on probing gaussian beam phase by complex geometrical optics methods was analysed in the work. The probing beam detection by quadrant photodiode was investigated. The photodiode current signal dependence on probing beam diameter, their waist and sample position, modulation angular freuquency, the height of the beam over the sample and the focal length of the lens at the input of experimental setup was studied.

In this work there is presented a description of the gaussian light beam diffraction on the planar ultrasound wave in the Raman-Nath region by the complex optical rays method. The case of the perpendicular light beam incidence (i.e. its axis) relatively to the direction of propagation of the ultrasound beam of Äz width propagated in water (liquid) was considered. The light beam phase change and deflection contributions to the diffraction pattern was taken into account. Final analytical formulae gives a possibility analyze the influence of such parameters as: a size and position of the gaussian beam waist, a laser-screen (detector) distance, a position of the ultrasound beam and Raman-Nath parameter value on diffraction pattern. It has been proved that in some cases the diffraction beams have a fine structure.

In the paper the idea of testing of athmospheric air by photoacoustic method i presented. The base of photoacoustic effect theory in gas is presented. The paper concerns also preliminary results of photoacoustic experimental investigation, too.

Problems with interpretation of experimental data from the investigation of a diffusion process using photoacoustic effect are considered. Based on Fick's 2nd law the problem of drug diffu-ption through the membrane is solved, and distribution of drug concentration in membrane as a function of time is calculated. The obtained solution allows one to derive the distribution of heat sources arising in the membrane illuminated by intensity modulated light. Subsequently the temperature of the illuminated membrane surface is analyzed numerically. Results of theoretical analysis are compared qualitatively with experimental data.

W pracy zaprezentowano nową komórkę fotoakustyczną, zaprojektowaną i zbudowaną w Instytucie Fizyki Politechniki Śląskiej.

The new photoacoustic cell designed and built in the Institute of Physics of the Silesian Technical University is presented in the work. This cell is destined to solid states samples investigations. With actually used windows these investigations can be carried out in the spectral range from near infrared to near ultraviolet and with continuous and pulse modulations.
