This paper describes the method of trajectory piecewise-linear representation of the nonlinear model. It considers the approach that leads to the model simplification preserving good approximation, what gives a chance to apply order reduction methods designed for linear models.
Nonlinear model reduction via trajectory piecewise linearization bases on model linearization in selected points and commonly used reduction methods for linear models. This approach gives an opportunity to spare computation time and reach satisfactory results for large and complex nonlinear models.
Bad technical state of many Polish energy sources and rising demand for energy causes a need for larger investments on energy production side. There are also some activities possible on the consumers’ side which could help to lower requirements for energy generation. Examples of such activities, based on processor technology and a concept of intelligent building (IB) are presented in the paper. IB concept should not be perceived as a luxury solution only, rising utilisation comfort level. It also generates considerable energy savings, lowering costs of building maintenance. The most important savings come from automation of heating and electrical lighting systems in case of considerable energy consumption. Investments in IB can be also co-financed using payments made with regard to environment protection. It would also bring more benefits in the future.
W artykule przedstawiono istotę problemu redukcji nieliniowych modeli obiektów automatyki oraz wcześniejsze osiągnięcia na tym polu. Przeanalizowano oraz, jako najbardziej zaawansowany i uniwersalny sposób redukcji, uznano metodę gramianów empirycznych. Zaimplementowano metodę gramianów empirycznych do nieliniowego modelu mieszalnika kotła energetycznego BP-1150 oraz przedstawiono osiągnięte wyniki. We wnioskach zawarto sugestie wykorzystania badanej metody do określonych klas oraz złożoności modeli nieliniowych.

The main idea and previous achievements in the field of nonlinear model reduction were introduced it this article. There is an analysis of the empirical gramian method as the most general and advanced. The method was implemented to the nonlinear model of the agitator of PB-1150 power steam generator and the results were presented. As a conclusion there was a suggestion of use of the empirical gramian method in the reduction process of the certain class and complexity of nonlinear models.
The latest approach to the model order reduction and its previous achievements are considered in this paper. There is a comparison of most commonly used methods as well as a brief description of nonlinear model reduction via trajectory piecewise linearization.
