This paper is focused on area identification to find a proper location for the specific port logistic center in a certain territory by applying the particular method of operational research. Graph theory offers a useful tool for solving such problems in transportation infrastructure development. The type of the network optimization technique depends on problem definition. In the first chapter, we have explained some of the algorithms often applied for similar purposes. In this case, the focus is on Minimum Spanning Three algorithm. Based on well-known Prim’s and Kruskal’s algorithms, some modifications are introduced, to improve the processing speed and memory consumption. The next four chapters describe individual parameters, perspectives, requirements, and financing details for building new combined transport terminals as well as a planned port logistics center. The subsequent, the most important, chapter presents the model example for specifying the proper location of a given port logistics center when using the method of operational research.

The paper is focused on the proposal regarding the regional transport organization within Integrated Transport System in a given territory using the selected multi-criteria analysis methods. Introductory parts of this research study include basic information related to this topic as well as description of the current state of the public passenger transport operation, specifically the Integrated Transport System,on a particular territory. Subsequent part of the paper consists of specification of all the data and methods used and applied to obtain the final outcomes. The most important part of the paper highlights all the acquired results and proposed recommendations that need to be established to achieve the more appropriate regional transport organization in the examined territory.

The purpose of the underlying paper is to highlight the significance of specialist and diplomarelated apprenticeships at the bachelor degree studies provided by the technical university. The evaluation of the quality of apprenticeships was conducted among the students of the Economy, Engineering and Transport Faculty of the Maritime University of Szczecin (Poland), for the study directions Production Management and Engineering (Polish: ZiP), Logistics (L) and Transport (T). The research methodology was based on questionnaire form, statistical analysis of results reliability and the analysis of literature. The results of the conducted research unequivocally indicated a need to introduce changes to the organisation of the apprenticeships, as this area determines the quality of engineers practical education and influences their professional competences.

Nowadays, the environmental aspects of transport are very actual issues, mainly the energy consumption and GHG production. The priority of EU transport strategy is to decrease the negative environmental impacts of all transport modes. The article discusses the calculation of the energy consumption and production of greenhouse gases in transport from both the primary and secondary points of view. This means, that it reflects the implications on the environment not only while operating the vehicle, but also during production, refining, distribution and storage of the fuel used in transport. The calculation is done by using the methodology of the standard EN 16 258:2012. This standard is used on all cars using various types of propellants. The results of the calculation show in a non-discriminatory manner the energy effectiveness of the individual types of fuel, as well as the rate of their production of greenhouse gases expressed in a comparison unit of equivalent CO2e.

Power of any kind of a car engine is considered to be one of the basic factors in order to choose or assess vehicles equipment or its appropriateness. It influences several operation properties including car maximum velocity, car acceleration, etc. A car producer shall issue the data about an engine power of a car in a form of its technical attributes, nevertheless an engine power specification is also stated in a car registration certificate. Engine power may be defined as the maximum engine output at given revolutions of an engine, i.e. maximum engine power. In most of cases of cars operation, various situations may occur in order to specify the maximum engine power value. This study addresses the issue of determining individual factors affecting the engine power while a passenger car in operation, i.e. testing the engine power on the single roller bench and related particular analysis.

The research study investigates fuel consumption of a passenger car depending on aerodynamic resistance and related aspects. Introduction and next chapter describe all the resistance kinds affecting a passenger car while in-motion. Subsequent part outlines particular aspects such as aerodynamic resistance, aerodynamic resistance coefficient, car velocity and air temperature in terms of their effect on fuel consumption of selected passenger car. The most important chapter compares fuel consumption while a passenger car is in-motion on an expressway with closed and open windows with fuel consumption on a first class road infrastructure.

The paper deals with the problem of service quality, quantification of the level of quality and evaluation of service quality in freight road transport companies. The impact of the transport service quality on the performance of road freight transport is necessary to quantify a level of service quality but also define and objectively evaluate the performance of road freight transport with the help of an appropriate set of performance indicators and methods. For examining relation and quantification of the transport service quality impact in road freight transport it is necessary to apply the appropriate method. This paper includes practical application of particular method, as well.

W artykule zajęto się problemem jakości usług, kwantyfikacji poziomu jakości i oceny jakości usług w towarowych przewoźników drogowych. Określenie wpływu jakości usługi transportowej na wydajność drogowego transportu towarowego jest niezbędne do wyznaczenia poziomu jakości świadczonych usług, ale również zdefiniowania i obiektywnej oceny wydajności drogowego transportu towarowego za pomocą odpowiedniego zestawu wskaźników i metod działania. Do badania relacji i kwantyfikacji wpływu jakości usługi transportowej w drogowym transporcie towarowym konieczne jest zastosowanie odpowiedniej metody. Artykuł ten zawiera również opis praktycznego użycia określonej metody.
