Tensegrity structures and hybrid tensegric structures can be defined as spatial systems, which consist only from set of compressed members and set of tensioned members and they can be used to developing systems with a possibility of an active control. Structures with an active control or active structures are equipped with sensors and actuators and they are subjected to continuous monitoring. A test facility with an active tensegrity unit and some basic experimental tests which were carried out are presented in the paper. Results obtained from the experimental tests are compared with the FEM created in ANSYS.

The intention of the paper is to illustrate the ability of the probabilistic time-dependent reliability assessment procedure applied to non-linear suspended cable structure with rheological properties, when a rope made from the high strength synthetic fibres is used. Attention is turned to the individual main steps in the assessment procedure, i. e. to the selection of an appropriate method of structural analysis, analysis of random variables representing individual actions, evaluation of the structural response with respect to the interaction of the random variables considering a history of the time-dependent action effects and to the definition of the limiting values considering serviceability of cable structure. The potential of the method using direct Monte Carlo technique as one of the possible alternatives for simulation-based time-dependent reliability assessment as a powerful tool is emphasized. The influence of an excessive deflection of suspended cable (caused by creep of cable and rheologic changes) on its serviceability in required time is investigated and illustrative examples are performed.

Konstrukcję przekrycia stanowi środkowy kratowy łuk rozpiętości 120 m, usytuowany na kierunku podłużnej osi hali, oraz kratowe wiązary dachowe oparte na tym łuku i przestrzennych słupach podpierających trybuny, rozmieszczone co 12 m. Opisano rozwiązanie konstrukcyjne hali oraz założenia analizy statycznej.

The new structure consists of an arch truss having 120 m span, located on the centreline of the hall and of truss girders supported on this arch and on tribune bearers every 12 m. The hall roof structure and assumptions for design analysis have been described.
