Purpose: Data for analysis and scientific interpretation was obtained by conducting a qualitative study in an industrial setting, using the BOST questionnaire - Toyota management principles in questions. The foundation of the research was the Eastern, particularly Japanese philosophy of the approach to production, expressed in the participation of the entire workforce in the evaluation and improvement of activities occurring during the manufacture of products. Design/methodology/approach: The paper will present the results relating to Toyota management principles 1 and 2. Arithmetic averages will be calculated for the sets of scores obtained. They are the basis for the being the material result of the production process. For investigations, the 3x3 matrix, after some modification, will be used to assess the relationship between technological capabilities and product competitiveness. The structure of the map described by the technological capabilities and competitiveness of the product gives information on the desirability of manufacturing the product in question. Findings: The paper will examine the relationship between the capabilities of technology and the competitiveness of the products of a metalworking company in light of selected Toyota principles. The opinion of production personnel is an important factor in the process of evaluating technology to increase the competitiveness of the products obtained. Research limitations/implications: In the research, employees of the operational level, i.e. the part of the crew that is directly involved in shaping products and creating quality, were used to obtain data on the evaluation of the course of production processes. Practical implications: The technology implemented by specific machines serves to produce a specific product, which is the material result of the production process. The material result should be transformed into a financial result, which is determined by the number of units of the product sold. Originality/value: The product of a given enterprise, according to the laws of the free market, should be better, cheaper, etc., than the product of another enterprise.

W pracy przedstawiono rolę, jaką spełniają wentylatory w procesie produkcji słodu, będącego istotnym surowcem do produkcji piwa. Zaprezentowano zakres badań wibrodiagnostycznych wentylatorów, które zrealizowano w słodowni. Stwierdzono, że odnotowany wzrost wartości wskaźników kompleksowego utrzymania maszyn słodowni nastąpił dzięki systematycznie wykonywanym badaniom wibrodiagnostycznym wentylatorów. Badania te były podstawą do zaplanowania i wykonania działań eksploatacyjnych. Służby techniczne słodowni w ten sposób zagwarantowały zdatność techniczną wentylatorom, realizującym proces produkcji słodu.

The text presents the role of fans in the process of malt production, which is an essential raw material used in beer production. It presents the scope of vibrodiagnostics of fans in the subject malthouse. Is has been stated that significant increase of the indicators for Total Productive Maintenance was reached due to regular vibrodiagnostics of fans. The diagnostics gave the basis for planning and performing maintenance actions of the malthouse technical support service which guaranteed technical capability of the fans which perform the process of malt production.

This article presents two methods of the variation coefficient calculating: the classical method and the ring method. These methods were used to study the distribution of pairs of validity ratings on the map of stability for two factors: the stability of the process and the quality of the product. Coefficients of variation for each zone are dependent on the method of their calculation.

Point of view, preferences and priorities of quality inspection in modern production systems have changed. Quality inspection in its activities is no longer limited only to the documentation of the past, nor is it seen solely as a tool for the detection of nonconformity. Nowadays, the most important quality inspection function is prevention, whose most important goal is to make it before nonconformity. What is expected from modern quality inspection is that it actively improves the production and quality as well as reduces the costs. The aim of the article is to present requirements, guidelines and challenges in the organization of modern quality inspection in a manufacturing company. The role of quality inspection in the classical model and modern model of quality improvement was presented. Determinants of effective quality inspection were presented, as well. The quality inspection methods that best fit into the paradigm of modern quality inspection, that is source inspection, together with visual management were pointed out.

The paper presents the results of studies on the effect of nonuniform temperature distribution over the length of feedstock on the variation of longitudinal stresses in the rolling direction and band dimension change during the continuous rolling process. The studies were performed based on actual engineering data for a 160x160 mm square cross-section feedstock of steel S355J0. Numerical modelling of the rolling process was performed using Forge 2008®, a finite-element based computer program. Thermovision measurements and bars geometrical dimension changes were carried out in a domestic steelworks.

The purpose, methodology, main findings, the originality of the subject area (research), way of using. The main research analysis purpose is a presentation, an assessment and an interpretation of the research findings on the machines maintenance conditions in the plastic industry. The research analysis was carried out with applying Technology ABC method and TPM coefficients calculations connected with Techno pak machine components maintenance. The research was carried out in the chosen manufacturing enterprise of the plastic industry. Research findings interpretation results have been introduced in the analyzed enterprise in the form of the manufacturing processes improvement.

The assessment of the suitability of elements of classic leadership map/ managerial grids for opinion poll was undertaken. ‘Dead’ measurement points, containing digit 5 as an abscissa or ordinate, were assigned to particular quarters in the leadership grid through switching from the scale of 1÷9 to 1÷8. The structure of assessment of human problem importance and production issues for five enterprises after the change of scale was also presented.

The main focus in this chapter is diversification of the definitions of the following notions: leadership, supervision, management. The existence of various types of leaders, supervisors, managers has been emphasized. The supervisors’ features were assessed based on the rules 4E+1P, which prove their value in revealing the leadership characteristics of the management personnel.

This chapter presents the research results on the functioning of the quality control system at the steelworks. The study was conducted using an innovative BOST method. Highlighted the need to improve processes visual inspection as a means of improving the quality of finished products. Based on a survey conducted among employees of the production factors have been identified which require improvement process in question.

The main goal of the study was to carry out the treatment of cyclic oxidation of Ti alloy (Ti-1Al-1Mn) in air atmosphere. Based on measurements of mass gain of titanium alloy samples (Ti-1Al-1Mn) the kinetic oxidation curves during cyclic annealing were determined. The oxidized surface of the titanium alloy was carefully observed with optical microscopy equipment and the geometrical development, shape and surface morphology were defined. The phase composition of the obtained oxide layers on the Ti-alloy with qualitative analysis of the X-ray were defined. Since titanium alloys are among the most widely used metallic materials in dental prosthetics the corrosion measurements in a solution simulating the environment of the oral cavity were carried out. The results confirmed that the used titanium alloy easily covered with oxides layers, which to some extent inhibit the processes of electrochemical corrosion in artificial saliva solution.

W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki badań nad kinetyką narastania warstw tlenkowych w efekcie cyklicznego termicznego utleniania stopu Ti-1Al-1Mn. Zabiegi utleniania przeprowadzono podczas sześciu 1-godzinnych cykli wygrzewania w atmosferze powietrza. Na podstawie pomiarów przyrostu masy próbek ze stopu tytanu (Ti-1Al-1Mn) wyznaczono krzywe kinetyki utleniania. W pracy przedstawiono również obserwacje mikroskopowe utlenionej powierzchni oraz na podstawie jakościowej analizy rentgenowskiej zidentyfikowano składniki strukturalne, będące produktem utleniania powierzchni. Z uwagi na fakt, że tytan i jego stopy są jednymi z najczęściej stosowanych w protetyce dentystycznej materiałami metalicznymi, przeprowadzono również testy korozyjne w środowisku imitującym warunki panujące w jamie ustnej człowieka. Wyniki potwierdziły, że tytan w podwyższonych temperaturach z łatwością pokrywa się warstwami tlenkowymi, które w pewnym zakresie hamują procesy korozyjne w roztworze sztucznej śliny.

The following chapter describes innovative actions implemented in the machine exploitation system in the Malting Plant Soufflet Poland of Poznan. It presents the main preventive actions aimed to increase the safety level of the malt production process. In particular, the test system to check the sensors and emergency switch effectiveness in the line for malt sprout and dust granulation is described. It was emphasized that only automatic mode of the technological installation can guarantee safe production and work conditions. Moreover, some other diagnostic and preventive actions undertaken in the malting plant are discussed, like thermovisual analysis, vibroacoustic measurement and oil quality inspection.

The importance of visual inspection in the production process is a very important factor, possibly due to the relatively rapid separation of defective products complying with standards. In order to improve the quality of ongoing processes companies choose preventive action, which are based on the first step to control various operations and finished products. The flat products rolling process is dependent on many factors (temperature charge / band, the rolling rhythm, the length of the band, interruption in the rolling mill, etc.) that affect the quality of the final product. Proper conduct the rolling process is therefore dependent on its control (including visual inspection) and the staff decisions properly, in cases of the disturbance. The paper presents results of studies conducted in one of the national flat products rolling mill. A survey was performed using the BOST method. It is a method in which Toyota's management principles are described characteristic factors. Respondents were asked to answer the question: "What is the most important factor in the visual control?“.

In the article was presented and compared between themselves distribution of inner load in slewing bearing. It was built from different subassemblies. It was shown the points of ex¬cessive overload transferred by the bearing. It is working in subassemblies which not providing the appropriate frame for the slewing bearing.

W artykule przedstawiono i porównano między sobą rozkład obciążenia wewnętrznego w łożysku wieńcowym, które zabudowano w różnych podzespołach wsporczych. Wykazano punkty nadmiernego przeciążenia przenoszonego przez łożysko, które pracuje w podzespołach wsporczych nie zapewniających odpowiedniej ostoi dla łożyska wieńcowego.

W rozdziale krótko omówiono przemysł szklarski w Polsce. Dokonano ogólnej charakterystyki analizowanego przedsiębiorstwa - huty szkła, która zajmuje się produkcją opakowań szklanych. Scharakteryzowano opakowania szklane: ich składniki, zastosowanie, cechy. W części badawczej dokonano hierarchizacji niezgodności występujących podczas produkcji butelek ze szkła bezbarwnego za pomocą Diagramu Pareto-Lorenza. Przedstawiono również analizę części wyników wybranego zestawu czynników ankiety BOST (zasad zarządzania Toyoty w pytaniach). Zestaw ten związany jest z zasadą 7 zarządzania Toyoty i dotyczy najważniejszych czynników w kontroli wizualnej.

In the chapter the glass industry in Poland was briefly discussed. General characteristics of the analyzed company - glass factory, which manufactures glass packages was made. Glass packages: their components, application, features were characterized. In the research part, the hierarchy of nonconformities, which occur during the production of colorless glass bottles using Pareto-Lorenz diagram was made. Analysis of the part of results of the chosen set of factors of the BOST questionnaire (Toyota management principles in questions) was also described. This set of factors is connected with 7 Toyota's management principle and concerns the most important factors in visual control.

The organization constant improvement process is possible using a step by step method. The self-learning organization and continuous improvement of the organization's culture guarantees achievement of good market results and raising competitiveness. This paper aims to identify and analyze the ratings importance level for the production process factors in order for the manufacturing process to improve in the chosen construction company. The study used an innovative research method BOST, which refers to the Toyota management principles in the production and the service organizations. As a result of research the ratings differentiation importance level for the production process factors was achieved which provides a basis for the process of the analyzed company to improve.

This paper presents a brief description of the surveyed enterprises and the manufacturing process of its flagship product - butter. Subsequently an analysis of BOST survey results was conducted. The staff spoke out about the importance of factors describing one of Toyota's management principle. Their opinion was the basis for the systematization of research results and to formulate a performance evaluation of the selected company. Results were presented by using spatial charts.

In the automotive industry the use of modern technology and provision of the highest quality product and related services is the most important element of rivalry between global corporations and motorcycles. In a competitive struggle for the recognition of its brand in the automotive market global organizations continuously raise the requirements for quality management systems, so that the finished product meets all the standards in terms of safety, quality and satisfying the ever-growing needs of customers - present and future drivers and passengers of cars. ISO/TS 16949 quality management system is presented in the paper. A framework for customer specific requirement as well as preventing problems is shown.

The problem of assessing employee satisfaction is presented in this chapter. It contains suggestions of other, often innovative interpretations of factors. Evaluations of two main areas are also explored: the area of expectation and area of perception. These relationships are: correlation and significance of differentiation averages in pairs homonymous factors. This paper presents an innovative way of presenting the difference of average evaluations between areas - on the scale of assessments. Practical use of the three variants of the interpretation of satisfaction obtained significant difference in the number of factors that meet the conditions of satisfaction. A palette of graphical forms of results are presented to support findings.
