The QR Code is modular. Data in QR Code is represented by dark and clear square modules – single square-shaped cells (pixels). The article presents the calculation of minimum QR Code sizes printed with various electrophotographic printing devices to obtain minimum acceptable quality using the code verifier. For the research purposes, two test QR Code images with different sizes were created. The first image contained Web page address http://www.cobrpp.com.pl and was used six times with different sizes. The other image contained the coded vCard: COBRPP Centralny Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Przemysłu Poligraficznego ul. Miedziana 11, 00-958 Warszawa 226208070 cobrpp@cobrpp.com.pl www.cobrpp.com.pl and was used seven times in different sizes. Test images were printed with seven different electrophotographic devices using the same 600 dpi print resolution. Those prints were then verified for code quality and readability using the Label Visions Systems INTEGRA 9510 verifier according to ISO/IEC 15415 standard. During the measurements, height and width of the single cell as well as entire code was checked. The research leads to conclusion that minimum code size to obtain acceptable quality level depends, among other factors, of the module size increase in print versus the digital original, which is different for different printers.To find out the minimum module size to be safely printed on any given device, this increase must be measured, or otherwise different code sizes must be experimentally verified for acceptable quality.

The article analyses strategies of sustainable development in the graphic arts industry. There are many deinitions of sustainable development, including this landmark one which first appeared in 1987: development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development calls for a convergence between the three pillars of economic development, social equity and environmental protection. The best illustration is an equilateral triangle, divided for three triangles. Every triangle symbolizes one of pillars. If triangles are identical it means ideal proportions between the three pillars: economy, ethics and ecology. Graphic arts is a specific branch of industry. Printing industry requires special attention in view of the sustainable development because it covers three steps of production: prepress, press and postpress (very often performed in one printing house).The article analyses strategies of sustainable development in the graphic arts industry.
