The paper focuses on presenting the concept of two-dimensional modeling of passenger car reliability during the warranty period. The main objective of this paper is to detect the regularity in the intensity of the number of first failure reports during the warranty period. The two-dimensional distribution of the time and mileage of failure-free exploitation is estimated. The period from the date of purchase to the first warranty repair is analysed. The concept presented incorporates the existing state of knowledge on two-dimensional warranties, expanding it through the use of a nonparametric approach and probability smoothing with the use of P-splines. The estimation involved censored data, i.e., data on vehicles that were not submitted for warranty repair within the warranty limits of time and mileage. The originality of this paper entails the combination of a nonparametric approach with probability smoothing. The statistical analyses presented in the paper were carried out on a population of 1005 vehicles of two car brands sold and serviced in 2011-2021 at the Authorized Service Station (Dealership). There were sales, repair, and warranty claim databases.

Purpose: The main research objective entails identification of the project excellence manifestations in project-immature organizations as well as delineation of the areas of excellence positively affecting the PMMM-model-accordant organizational project maturity. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the research objective, the methods of bibliometric analysis and literature review, as well as an opinion survey, statistical analysis and LOGIT modeling, were used in the theoretical and the empirical dimensions respectively. The study covered a group of large organizations registered in Poland, which were assessed with respect to their levels of project maturity and excellence. The statistical analysis carried out allowed a delineation of the excellence areas positively impacting project maturity in organizations at low stages of project maturity. Findings: The vast majority of the examined group of large organizations is characterized by low levels of project maturity and excellence. The entities surveyed meet the excellence criterion mainly in the areas of process integration and culture. Statistically, the area of excellence supporting organizational project maturity is informal project management. Areas of project excellence, which, if properly managed, will positively affect the level of organizational project maturity have been identified. Research limitations/implications: The use of non-probabilistic sampling is a research limitation restraining the conclusions formulated to the surveyed group of 48 large organizations. The study carried out can serve as an inducement of extended empirical investigations. Future research should be focused on the search for the factors supporting and hindering the achievement of higher levels of project maturity, in order to formulate assumptions regarding a strategy enabling organizations’ transition to higher levels of project maturity. Practical implications: The research results indicate important interdependencies between the stages of project maturity and the areas of excellence. These interdependencies call the attention of business and project-management practitioners to the prospect of achieving higher levels of organizational project maturity through targeted management of the key, from the positive¬impact perspective, areas of project excellence. Recognition of these mechanisms should encourage businesses to take deliberate steps aimed at improvement of organizational project management. Originality/value: The article fills an important cognitive gap by indicating that management activities focused on the project excellence areas identified in the paper can positively impact the levels of project maturity. The results can be of significance for both the researchers exploring for the factors supporting the achievement of higher project-maturity levels as well as the practitioners, i.e., organizations keen on methodical improvement of project maturity levels.

The paper focuses on issues related to selected automotive brakes with the aim of applying the proposed methodology to other structural systems of this type. The main aim of the paper is to identify the factors that differentiate the course of wear and occurrence of a fault in brake system components of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles during the warranty service period. The following methods were used in this study: systematic literature review, process analysis, and descriptive and inferential statistics, including analysis of variance and multiple classification analysis. As a result of an analysis of 295 brake system repairs, six differentiating factors that allowed for ex post analysis of the repairs were identified. An analysis of the interaction of these factors made it possible to distinguish three groups of motor vehicles depending on the cause of failure of the braking system. Based on the data generated in the warranty process, it is possible to determine the factors that differentiate the occurrence of a fault and the course of brake disc and pad wear.

Purpose: The basic aim of the article was to recreate the service processes architecture in the selected financial and accounting shared services centre. Two auxiliary goals (CC) have been assigned to this goal. CC1: Approximation and definition of the current state of knowledge regarding process management on the example of SSC providing accounting and financial services. CC2: Characterization of inputs, outputs and goals for the identified activities in the main service processes in the studied SSC organization. Design/methodology/approach: The following research methods were used to achieve the stated goals: quantitative bibliometric analysis, systematic literature review, statistical methods (LOESS analysis), participant observation and unstructured interview. The R programming language was used in the analysis of time series in the theoretical study. Findings: As a result of the study, the main service processes in the examined organization were identified and recreated, and their goals, inputs, outputs and sets of implemented activities were determined. On this basis, a reproduced map of selected main processes is presented, taking into account the course of activities between them. This article supplements the knowledge on the issues of service processes management in an organization identified as SSC and can set the research framework for subsequent empirical proceedings regarding the examination of the level of maturity of selected processes, the level of implementation of process orientation in SSC, as well as attempting to use the generated event logs database for exploration of processes and comparing their course with reference models. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of the presented article result from the presentation of the example of one shared service centre in Poland and a limited group of respondents who, due to the data security policy in the examined organization, could take part in the study. This prevented, among others, detailed characterization of management processes and support processes related to administration, controlling, accounting, human resources and IT. Practical implications: The results presented in this article have an application value related to the map of the main SSC service processes presented, which can be discounted both by the SSC management staff and process owners in the SSC design space, measurement of processes and identification of customer-supplier relations in external and internal terms. Originality/value: The article fills the cognitive gap related to the lack of reconstruction studies, using the observation and interview method, the structure of main and auxiliary service processes in SSC, which is the basis for further research in the field of formalization, exploration, measurement and management of identified processes.

Purpose: The main purpose of the article was to present the results of the analysis of the after-sales service process using data mining on the example of data gathered in an authorized car service station. As a result of the completed literature review and identification of cognitive gaps, two research questions were formulated (RQ). RQ1: Does the after-sales service meet the parameters of business process category? RQ2: Is the after-sales service characterized by trends or is it seasonal in nature? Design/methodology/approach: The following research methods were used in the study: quantitative bibliographic analysis, systematic literature review, participant observation and statistical methods. Theoretical and empirical study used R programming language and Gretl software. Findings: Basing on relational database designed for the purpose of carrying out the research procedure, the presented results were of: the analysis of the service sales structure, sales dynamics, as well as trend and seasonality analyses. As a result of research procedure, the effects of after-sales service process were presented in terms of quantity and value (amount). In addition, it has been shown that after-sales service should be identified in the business process category. Originality/value: The article uses data mining and R programming language to analyze the effects generated in after-sales service on the example of a complete sample of 13,418 completed repairs carried out in 2013-2018. On the basis of empirical proceedings carried out, the structure of a customer-supplier relationship was recreated in external and internal terms on the example of examined organization. In addition, the possibilities of using data generated from the domain system were characterized and further research directions, as well as application recommendations in the area of after-sales services was presented.

Introduction/background: The research problem was formulated by asking two research questions (RQ): RQ1: What are the similarities and differences in startup activity as observed in Poland and Israel? RQ2: What characteristics of a startup allow it to be treated as an AI-organisation? The conducted literature review allowed us to identify a certain cognitive gap (CG). CG1: There are few study reports discussing the characteristics of the European market of startups utilizing modern technologies. The study was conducted in 2018-2019. Aim of the paper: The main goal of the article is to present the results of a comparative analysis of Polish startups with Israeli organizations using artificial intelligence technology (AI startups). This main goal sets the focus on the respective partial epistemological aims. TA1: To determine the current state of knowledge about the characteristics of startups in Poland and AI startups in Israel. TA2: To try and define the term AI startup. Materials and methods: The research methods employed in implementing the formulated goals included: quantitative bibliometric analysis, systematic and critical review of the subject literature, text analysis and comparative analysis. Results and conclusions: It was noticed that clear differences can be observed between the analyzed markets, especially in terms of the number of AI startups. In addition, an attempt was made to define the concept of an AI startup, and the determinants of AI startups were also presented. In conclusion, the authors set the direction for further research, which would be based on expanding the observation of a broader spectrum of AI startups in other European and American markets.

The basic objective of the article was to identify inference algorithms (rules) in the diagnosis process of high pressure pumps (HP) on the example of gasoline engine units, designated as EP (THP). For the needs of the main objective, a partial goal was assigned. It was to characterize the symptoms and diagnostic codes indicating the malfunction of the high pressure pump. As a result of empirical proceedings, the results of the analysis of completed repairs of the high pressure fuel system were presented, then, based on the technical documentation and observation of the course of diagnostic activities in workshop conditions, the HP pump diagnostic process was recreated on the example of the tested EP unit. In addition, as a result of the study, factors shaping the correct implementation of the HP pump diagnosis process were identified. This study may be an incentive for a more in-depth analysis of the methodology for diagnosing low and high pressure fuel circuits in spark-ignition engines.

The main objective of the article was to present the results of the assessment of the process maturity of the shared services centre (SSC) from the perspective of four functional areas. The research problem was formulated in the form of questions (RQ). RQ1: What is the level of process maturity of the shared services centre? RQ2: What are the similarities and differences in the assessment of the implementation of elements of the process approach from the perspective of employees employed in various departments and in various positions? Empirical proceedings were carried out using such methods as: literature review and opinion poll performed using the CAWI technique. The study employs a multi-dimensional MMPM model of process maturity assessment adapted to the specifics of the sector under study. In the summary assessment of the level of maturity, average values obtained from all respondents were adopted. On this basis, it was assessed that the examined shared services centres were classified at the fourth level of process maturity, with clear signs of development towards the fifth level – the highest one. Of the three points in this article, the first characterizes the concept of process maturity and presents selected models for its assessment. The second point characterizes the studied organization, outlines the methodological framework of the conducted empirical proceedings and presents the structure of respondents. Then, detailed results of the completed research procedure were described. The summary presents a summary assessment of the level of maturity of the surveyed organizations, and indicates limitations resulting from the adopted research methodology, as well as further research directions.
