W artykule przedstawiono doświadczenia KWK „Mysłowice-Wesoła” z odmetanowania rejonu ściany z zastosowaniem kierunkowego otworu drenażowego, wykonanego w strefie desorpcji metanu. Przedstawiono przyczyny zastosowania takiego rozwiązania, jego koszty oraz efektywność.

Safe and effective exploitation of the seam high in methane requires the use of effective methane prevention, which should be based on a proper selection of the ventilation system. The paper presents the experience gained from the exploitation of the 510 seam in KWK „Mysłowice-Wesoła” in Mysłowice through the longwall high in methane. Due to a high risk of spontaneous fire, which characterises this seam of bituminous coal, the “U” ventilation system along the unmined coal was used. The rock mass methane drainage was carried out through a beam of drainage holes made of longwalls. To increase the methane drainage effectiveness, a directional drainage hole was made in gangue over the longwall plot located in the methane desorption zone. The method was adapted to the geological conditions and proved to be economically justified and efficient. The experience gained from the longwall exploitation allowed us to develop optimal technology to drain methane from consecutive walls in this part of seam. The directional drainage hole was also used to drain methane from connected goafs during the exploitation of an adjacent longwall. The concept of the longwall methane drainage with the use of a directional drainage hole is efficient, and the experience presented in the paper may be used in other mining plants that exploit bituminous coal seams high in methane and may improve safety at work.
