Wzrastające wymagania dotyczące czystości powietrza zmuszają do stosowania materiałów i technologii ograniczających szkodliwość procesu produkcji. Firma Huettenes-Albertus wprowadziła nowe spoiwo do procesu cold-box, a przeprowadzone pomiary w odlewni żeliwa Daimler Benz AG potwierdziły znaczne zredukowanie substancji szkodliwych, takich jak: benzen, toluen, ksylen i fenol. Stwierdzono także zmniejszenie emisji substancji zapachowych. Jedynym mankamentem, zaobserwowanym przy zastosowaniu nowego spoiwa, jest wzrost wydzielanej pary wodnej na stanowisku wybijania odlewów.

The increasing requirements concerning air pollution make foundries apply materials and technologies which limit the harmfull effects of the production processes. Huettenes-Albertus introduced a new binder to the cold-box process, and the measurements carried out in the Daimler Benz AG iron foundry have confirmed a considerable reduction of harmful substances, such as benzene, toluene, xylene, and phenol. The decrease in the emission of odoriferous substances was also observed. The only weak point observed when applying this new binder was an increase in the emitted water vapour at the stand of knocking out of castings. Therefore, further works will focus on diminishing this effect.
