The complexity of modern security systems requires comprehensive (holistic) research methods that not only reduce complexity but also maintain high diagnostic power. The author addresses the problem area of security system structures, which can be classified as the scientific discipline of security engineering. A pre-research theory strategy and a deformation method and abstraction technique were applied, based on the existing meaning of specific primary concepts and axioms of action system theory. It was assumed that every security system, which is an example of an action system, is composed of layers. Based on his conclusions, the author distinguished the human, organisational and technical layers. The main research problem is of a praxeological nature and is expressed in the following question: what types of security system configurations can be distinguished on the basis of action system theory? The result is a description of four basic types of security system architecture: unification, coordination, replication, and diversification.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the key assumptions and the importance of creating the Competence Center at the Silesian University of Technology, which is to be an innovative partnership between science and industry in the area of security and crisis management. The article aims to draw attention to the need to change the approach to safety in industry and to open new opportunities for employers, academic staff and students by integrating the latest scientific achievements with industrial practice. Design/methodology/approach: The first method is the literature analysis: analysis of international literature from main databases and Polish literature and legal acts connecting with the researched topic. Moreover, the article presents a specific concept of the competence center that is being established at the Silesian University of Technology. Findings: The findings indicate that creating a Competence Center at the Silesian University of Technology can significantly enhance safety and crisis management in industry by integrating scientific advancements with industrial practices. The proposed structure and methods for the Center emphasize modern training programs, crisis simulations, and the use of advanced technologies like AI and data analysis to improve risk management. Originality/Value: The article presents the original concept of the new groundbreaking Competence Center for security and crisis management at the Silesian University of Technology.

A mine cannot operate without environmental monitoring systems and basic mining machinery and equipment. In individual mines, these systems work in various configurations. Current information from these systems is visualized in the mine dispatch rooms. This article presents the basic structure of the visualization system, focusing on those most commonly used in our mines. It highlights that the diversity of monitoring systems used does not favor their unification and integration, aimed at providing the entrepreneur with essential data necessary for making crucial decisions related not only to the functioning of individual facilities within a company but, most importantly, the entire enterprise. The article introduces a new proprietary HADESvisualization system program used in JSW SA mines. This program, named after the first microprocessor-based dispatching system implemented in Polish mines several decades ago, enables the entrepreneur to make key decisions regarding the operation of the entire coal companyand its individual facilities.
