Efektywne funkcjonowanie organizacji wymaga menedżerów o określonych kompetencjach, nastawionych na współpracę z ludźmi, wspólne ustalanie celów i sposobów ich realizacji oraz rzetelnego informowania. Sukces organizacji zależy bowiem od zasobów ludzkich – ich kwalifikacji, umiejętności a przede wszystkim zaangażowania w wykonywaną pracę. Kompetencje menedżerów odgrywają zatem kluczową rolę w skutecznym kierowaniu personelem. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań ukierunkowanych na identyfikację kompetencji społecznych menedżerów, w kontekście procesu rekrutacji i oceny personelu.

Effective operation of organisations requires managers with specific competence, focussed on cooperation with people, joint setting of goals and methods of achieving them as well provision of reliable information. There is a correlation between success achieved by an organisation and its human resources – their qualifications, skills and above all their involvement in the performed work. Therefore competence of managers plays a key role in effective personnel management. The article presents results of research aimed at identifying social competence of managers in the context of personnel recruitment and appraisal.

Omówiono etapy wdrażania systemu środowiskowego EMAS w Elektrowni Jaworzno III oraz Elektrowni Łaziska. Podstawowym celem EMAS jest stymulowanie takich działań firm i instytucji, które służą ograniczeniu negatywnych oddziaływań na środowisko, spełnianiu coraz wyższych wymagań prawnych z zakresu ochrony środowiska oraz zapewnianiu dostępu wszystkich zainteresowanych stron do informacji środowiskowych o skutkach funkcjonowania organizacji zarejestrowanych w systemie.

The article presents the successive stages of EMAS environmental system implementation in Jaworzno III and Łaziska Power Plants. The basic goal of EMAS is to stimulate such company and institution undertakings which would aim at reducing the negative impact on the environment, meeting more and more stringent legislative requirements in the scope of environmental protection, and securing access of all the interested parties to environmental information concerning the participation outcomes of all organizations registered in the system.

The results of the investigations associated with fouling in the backpass of a commercial 415 MWt CFB boiler are presented in this paper. The boiler was fired with a mixture of hard coal, biomass, and coal slurry. After certain operation period a strong deposition on the heat transfer surfaces in the boiler convective section was detected. Analysis of the samples indicated that the solid structures on the heat transfer surfaces were very hard and mainly enriched in calcium and sulfur compounds. Detailed investigation and sample analysis indicated that the solid structures were formed mainly by ultrafine m-size solids. A special fouling probe was prepared and industrial tests were conducted in order to determine the effect of fuel type on deposit formation and the formation rate. It was found that the deposition was mainly associated with combustion of the coal slurry.

Multicomponent indium based fluoride glass singly doped with europium, terbium, holmium and thulium has been investigated using methods of optical spectroscopy. Owing to low energy of phonons available in the glass matrix, the luminescent levels of rare earth ions are depopulated mainly by radiative transitions and nonradiative ion-ion interaction. The latter mechanism has been found to govern the relaxation dynamics of the /sup 5/D/sub 2/, /sup 5/D/sub 1/ levels of europium, the /sup 5/D/sub 3/ level of terbium, the /sup 5/S/sub 2/ level of holmium and the /sup 2/D/sub 5/, /sup 1/G/sub 4/ and /sup 3/H/sub 4/ levels of thulium when the activator concentration amounts to several mol%.

The interest in LiNbO₃ and LiTaO₃ crystals doped with transition metal or rare eartch ions is related to their potential applications as self-switching and self-frequency doubling laser materials. In the past considerable attention has been paid to LiNbO₃ crystals doped by variety of luminescent ions. In particular LiNbO₃:Cr was investigated recently by Macfarlane et al. [1]. Energy transfer between Cr³⁺ and Nd³⁺ in LiNbO₃ has been studied and discussed by Vergara et al. [2]. In this work we investigate spectroscopic properties of Cr³⁺ and Cr³⁺ - Nd³⁺ interaction in LiTaO₃ using optical absorption, luminescence and luminescence decay times at temperatures between 5 K and 300 K. Some preliminary data obtained with singly doped LiTaO₃:Cr at low activator concentration are given in our previous work [3]. Recorded spectra indicate that both the Cr³⁺ and Nd³⁺ are located in several non - equivalent sites that differ in the strength of the crystal field. Luminescence spectrum of Cr³⁺ consists of a broad band whose maximum and intensity depend on temperature. Below about 50 K an additional sharp band with four distinct components appears in the spectrum. The broad band attributed to the spin allowed ⁴T₂ - ⁴A₂ transition of Cr³⁺ ions overlaps two absorption bands of Nd³⁺ ions at about 810 nm and 890 nm making the Cr³⁺ - Nd³⁺ energy transfer process feasible. Results of measurements are discussed and compared to those obtained with LiNbO₃:Cr.
