The recycling of used plastics is becoming an important solution to an ecological nuisance and may serve as a viable approach to the recovery of waste material. The estimation of the refuse composition shows that the plastics fraction increased from 2% in 1984 to 7% in 1990. The annual plastics consumption in Algeria is more than 500,000 tons and at least 25% could be recovered. When the mixture is treated as it occurred, it is shown through the mechanical properties that it exhibits a fairly good strength. The incorporation of titanates, CPE, peroxide and novolak have upgraded the properties of the mixture which can compete with virgin plastics.

The effect of polyurethane oligomers on the fracture resistance of epoxy based resins was investigated. The fracture resistance was estimated by means of the critical stress intensity factor and the Izod impact strength as function of modifier structure. The fracture energies displayed a strong improvement at a specific modifier content with the presence of a chain extender. Toughening mechanisms are discussed in relation with the incorporated modifiers.

Temat pracy stanowi analiza kołowych delaminacji umiejscowionych między warstwami kompozytu, różniącymi się grubością i kierunkiem zbrojenia. Rozkład energii pękania wyznaczono posługując się metodą pracy zamknięcia szczeliny. We wszystkich analizowanych przypadkach stwierdzono, że jednoosiowe obciążenie zewnętrzne indukuje lokalnie, wzdłuż frontu delaminacji GI, GII, GIII. Wzajemne relacje tych wielkości zależą od względnej sztywności odseparowanych warstw i azymutu. Udziały GI i GII są zbliżone, udział GIII znacząco mniejszy.
